"She Liked You in March. It's October Now."

Attraction runs on a clock.

She flirted for weeks. Touched your arm. Found reasons to be alone with you. And you were careful. Respectful. Waiting for the right moment.

The moment had a shelf life. It expired around month two, and by the time you asked her out, she'd quietly filed you under "little brother."

One of the hardest lessons inside the 22 Rules: women rarely wait. Interest either grows or it decays, and nothing decays it faster than a man who never moves.

Make the move while she's still inventing reasons to be near you.

Okay, so this happened today, and I used my own original pick-up line, too.

I was sitting at the local coffee house with my cousin and brother, and there was a decent looking girl about my age sitting there. My brother was nagging me to talk to her. She finished whatever she was doing, and was just kind of standing around waiting for her ride, so I grabbed my book, Physics: Foundations and Frontiers, and walked up to her.

I said "Excuse me." and she turned around. I flipped the book open to a page displaying books stacked in such a way that the top (fifth) book in the stack was overhanging the edge of the table by atleast a full book's length. I pointed at the picture and said, "Did you know that you could stack books like that?" she said "Wow, that's really cool." and I said.. "With knowledge of physics, you can." I clapped the book shut and stuck out my hand, introducing myself. She shook my hand and said "Hi," and told me her name. At this point I walked back over to my brother and told him my line worked, then I explained to the girl that it was a pickup line, and asked her if it worked. She agreed with me that it did, in a light hearted and friendly manner.

This was my first attempt, and I consider it a success. Any advice or comments?

“The 22 Rules That Flip the Script With Women… And How You Can Use Them Tonight”

Most guys accidentally kill attraction before they even speak. They assume they need a bigger bank account, a better physique, or smoother lines. They miss the point.

Female desire operates on a specific set of psychological triggers.  Break them, and you're invisible. Follow them, and you become magnetic.

I learned this the hard way. Years of freezing up. Getting friend-zoned. Watching other guys walk away with the girl I wanted. Then I discovered a set of 22 simple rules that rewired my entire approach.

Good job. I personally wouldn't have asked her if it worked, but oh well, what matters is that you approached her and that she responded positively.

Next time try for a number.

so...? did you get the #? it sounds like you should have went for the #, but you didnt - insted you told her you were just trying to see if you could pick up a chick - ?.... shoulda asked for the # - -- you got that far and then just stopped.. come on man!

"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.

Good job in actually making an approach and initiating a conversation with a girl that you didn't know. However, there were several things that I believe you would benefit by working on. First, what was said - you went in with closed questions; she really didn't have a way to get the conversation rolling. Try to stay away from "yes/no" questions... "Did you know you could do this?" is definitely one of them. Not to mention (and no offense) but the "With a knowledge of physics, you can!" sounds rather... well, I'll let you imagine. It's a coffee shop, not a classroom or science convention! Swapping names is pretty much a given; if you walk up to just about anyone and say "Hi, I'm Soandso, what's your name?" you're bound to get a response.

Walking back to your clique after introducing yourself was a boneheaded move. Walking over to her and saying "This was a pickup line. Did it work?" was even worse. If you're going to use lines, realize that there is only one way to see if they worked... and that's by picking (or not picking) the girl up! Although she said that the line worked, her actions and the end results say otherwise - you didn't pick her up, you didn't get her number, and you won't be seeing her again. However, hopefully this will show you just how easy it is to go up to a strange girl and introduce yourself... I recommend you do this at least twice tomorrow (no excuses) and let us know the results. Don't expect miracles overnight, but also understand that you won't have any success if you don't make the effort. Good luck, and welcome to the forum.

Thanks for the advice/suggestions. I'll definitely do better next time.

The line I used was actually a joke. I never expected to actually use it. But in any case, I think I will see her again, as she's supposed to be there every tuesday. If I do I'll talk to her again.

I know I made a few mistakes, but I'll work on that.

Thanks again, guys.

I was joking with a friend about going up to a HB and saying "hey I like." I think it would be interesting to see how this works. I've been finding out that it doesnt really matter what you say, as long as it's not too extreme.
