I just thought I would start a thread on cars. A lot of people think about a lot of things when buying a car. Maintainence, looks, affordability, performance, resale value. I want to start a thread on this. Everyone is free to add their 2 cents.

This is how I see it (in Deadly's world). These are just my generalizations.
if u drive a:
station wagon - ur a family man, most likely u listened to ur patner/wife and bought this
hybrid (elec+petrol)- greenpeace lover, u think its the future of automobiles, sure buddy!
small hatchback- a bit feminine, I bet you have problems parking large cars and most likely its an auto
bright coloured small hatchback - you got issues, nah jokes, but dat is girlish
convertible - you want everyone's attention, you might even be gay. You want everyone to think you are successful and rich. In others words "hey, look at me!"
big v8 pick up - you want something manly, something to roar about to ur mates, to make u look more manly.
Normal van (Toyota Hiace) - something functional for work cos ur a skilled labourer
Ricer - u still need to grow up (this is exluding cars bought for drifting or Nissan GTRs, Mitsi Evos) in other words, stop spending money to make ur Honda look good.
Coupe - you are a single and intending to stay that way.
Sedan - you are single but are definetly planning for the future (family)
old classic V8 - again, makes u feel manly.
fully resotered classic v8 - you love ur cars and probably more than anything else.

Now for the different brands.

Japanese: You want something cheap and easy to run. You obviously haven't discovered the joy of going fast. But for some people, its all they can afford which is fair enuf.
Japenese sports: Cheaper to maintain than euros, but still get the joy of going fast. I know these are popular in the States because they are rare. But here in NZ/Auz they are considered teenager cars.

Honda: Stop trying to impress Primary school kids, or ur into ur asian delight. Get over the whole fast n furious thing. Ever heard ppl call ur car a 'bumble bee in a tin can'?

BMW: You want luxury, functionality, and fantastically engineered cars. Most people think that BMWs and 911s(Porsche) are over priced. Drive these cars at their limits and you will discover a new hobby. Drive a M3 or a 911 turbo at its limits, you have been blessed with some skills.

Porsche: if you drive 911s, or 911 turbo, you are living it up. "Drive a Boxster, it says that u wanted a Porsche but couldn't afford the 911" - Jeremy C. from Top Gear. If you have a 550 sypder, very classy.

Jag: you must be british or have a love for the British. I bet you like ur British comedy and the EPL.

Aston Martin: ahhh! you have class and money. But most will ppl think you love the J. Bond character which is secretly true.

Bugatti: You probably wipe ur arse with 100 dollar bills. It will garunteed get u the attention you want.

lambo/Ferraris: They look good and go fast. Ur pimping it as they would say. Ferraris are known to have a bit more class.

American: you love american things, the big and macho. Its the amercian thing to do. You think Japanese cars are for 'save the earth ppl' and euros are for gay guys. You most likely listen to rock and think that all electronic music is just techno and is for gay guys as well.

This is what most people think of other people when they see them driving their cars. Now if ur a DJ, you wouldn't give a toss what people think. You could even get a 70' Pontiac GTO, paint it bright pink, chop the top, only because YOU wanted it that way. The main thing is, don't buy a certain car to impress people. Buy it, because it makes u feel alive. Buy it, because it gives u a sense of freedom. Buy it, because it helps u lose track of time and wish u were in that state for eternity.

If I had the money, I would get a MV agusta f4 senna and a MV agusta 500. Those are bikes btw, hehehe.

What about toyotas, for those people who like having their car start every single time they turn their key? American cars can suck it.

so what would your take be on a Land Rover freelander and a Subaru WRX STI combo... wanna upgrade from the freelander to a Landcruiser 100. mainly because im an offroad bunny

Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.

cute chick car

Jetta or Cabriolet.
If I'm on the highway and see a Volks ahead of me, chances are it's some hot, tight sorority girl whose daddy bought her the cutest car. A pass, with a quick glance to the right gives me the warm and fuzzies.

The part about Honda is the stupidest thing i have ever read on here in terms of an explanation for for something, please explain how some of the most fuel efficient cars that are the most popular Japanese car brand in America are all generalized to be part of fast and furious. Just go explain that to my grandmother and her Honda odyssey.

Does ur Grandmother spend money in making her Odessey look good? My comment is directed towards those who spend money on making their honda look good.  My mum drives a Honda civic.  Sometimes when I take it out, I get 'ricers' in their modified Honda civics trying to race me or show how their honda is so much cooler.  If you gonna buy a Honda, buy it to save money.  Not spend money on it to look good.  Rather spend the same money on something better.

SUVs - family man, soccer mom, great cars if you have a big group and you wanna go on a road trip. Jeeps - get one if you planning on going offroading.  Don't get one so u can drive it around the city.

Yeah well from my side of the world.. Landcruiser is the Yardstick by which other 4x4s are measured.. its also luxurious and has the best offroad capabilities around. with unrivalled reliability.. Range is classy.. i would kinda hate to gt it dirty though.. put a set of chrome 22s on it and keep it in the city

Here in NZ we have offroad driver training courses.  They use the latest model Range Rovers.  Where abouts are you from?

Since when?

I own a Ranger Rover Sport, and test drove the abortion they call "Sequoia," and I still stand by my decision.

And to the OP, your analysis however comical, is a bit too generalized and naive. Drive more cars, reform your opinions.

OP is completely full of crap and pointless to boot. The reasons people drive what they drive is as diverse as the people driving.

My favorite car is a liter class sportbike.

OP, what is the point of this thread?

Why the hating on Hondas? Not every Honda out there is "rice." You apparently dont know what the **** youre talking about.

Glad you clarified this a bit. I personally drive a Jeep. But my family swears by Hondas because of the reliability, gas mileage, and slow depreciation. Used Honda Accords and Civics are in HIGH demand. Get the V6's and you'll have plenty of get up and Go for the average person or the average speeder. These cars can be trouble though I know when I'm driving them it feels like the vehicle is floating calmly gotta watch the speed on it.

The point is many people get judged by the car they drive. If you want to impress someone, I posted that rough guide. If you don't care what people think, go for whatever floats your boat.

If you currently have too many women chasing you, calling you, harassing you, knocking on your door at 2 o'clock in the morning... then I have the simple solution for you.

Just read my free ebook 22 Rules for Massive Success With Women and do the opposite of what I recommend.

This will quickly drive all women away from you.

And you will be able to relax and to live your life in peace and quiet.
