I just thought I would start a thread on cars. A lot of people think about a lot of things when buying a car. Maintainence, looks, affordability, performance, resale value. I want to start a thread on this. Everyone is free to add their 2 cents.
This is how I see it (in Deadly's world). These are just my generalizations.
if u drive a:
station wagon - ur a family man, most likely u listened to ur patner/wife and bought this
hybrid (elec+petrol)- greenpeace lover, u think its the future of automobiles, sure buddy!
small hatchback- a bit feminine, I bet you have problems parking large cars and most likely its an auto
bright coloured small hatchback - you got issues, nah jokes, but dat is girlish
convertible - you want everyone's attention, you might even be gay. You want everyone to think you are successful and rich. In others words "hey, look at me!"
big v8 pick up - you want something manly, something to roar about to ur mates, to make u look more manly.
Normal van (Toyota Hiace) - something functional for work cos ur a skilled labourer
Ricer - u still need to grow up (this is exluding cars bought for drifting or Nissan GTRs, Mitsi Evos) in other words, stop spending money to make ur Honda look good.
Coupe - you are a single and intending to stay that way.
Sedan - you are single but are definetly planning for the future (family)
old classic V8 - again, makes u feel manly.
fully resotered classic v8 - you love ur cars and probably more than anything else.
Now for the different brands.
Japanese: You want something cheap and easy to run. You obviously haven't discovered the joy of going fast. But for some people, its all they can afford which is fair enuf.
Japenese sports: Cheaper to maintain than euros, but still get the joy of going fast. I know these are popular in the States because they are rare. But here in NZ/Auz they are considered teenager cars.
Honda: Stop trying to impress Primary school kids, or ur into ur asian delight. Get over the whole fast n furious thing. Ever heard ppl call ur car a 'bumble bee in a tin can'?
BMW: You want luxury, functionality, and fantastically engineered cars. Most people think that BMWs and 911s(Porsche) are over priced. Drive these cars at their limits and you will discover a new hobby. Drive a M3 or a 911 turbo at its limits, you have been blessed with some skills.
Porsche: if you drive 911s, or 911 turbo, you are living it up. "Drive a Boxster, it says that u wanted a Porsche but couldn't afford the 911" - Jeremy C. from Top Gear. If you have a 550 sypder, very classy.
Jag: you must be british or have a love for the British. I bet you like ur British comedy and the EPL.
Aston Martin: ahhh! you have class and money. But most will ppl think you love the J. Bond character which is secretly true.
Bugatti: You probably wipe ur arse with 100 dollar bills. It will garunteed get u the attention you want.
lambo/Ferraris: They look good and go fast. Ur pimping it as they would say. Ferraris are known to have a bit more class.
American: you love american things, the big and macho. Its the amercian thing to do. You think Japanese cars are for 'save the earth ppl' and euros are for gay guys. You most likely listen to rock and think that all electronic music is just techno and is for gay guys as well.
This is what most people think of other people when they see them driving their cars. Now if ur a DJ, you wouldn't give a toss what people think. You could even get a 70' Pontiac GTO, paint it bright pink, chop the top, only because YOU wanted it that way. The main thing is, don't buy a certain car to impress people. Buy it, because it makes u feel alive. Buy it, because it gives u a sense of freedom. Buy it, because it helps u lose track of time and wish u were in that state for eternity.
If I had the money, I would get a MV agusta f4 senna and a MV agusta 500. Those are bikes btw, hehehe.
