"Why Women Dump the Guys Who Try the Hardest"

You paid for dinner. You drove. You said "whatever you want is fine" every single time. All the effort, no expectations.

And she left anyway — probably for a guy who makes her pick up the pizza.

Painful. Also predictable. Her mind quietly concludes that anything requiring zero effort from her is worth exactly zero. You became a free sample, and free samples get taken for granted.

The 22 Rules flip the dynamic. Small shifts that get her investing effort, money, and time in you — until SHE'S the one afraid of losing YOU.

i was eating lunch today and heard what I believe has to be one of the top 5 most AFC songs ever. It's the famous "When a Man Loves a Woman" by Percy Sledge. Take a look at the lyrics and tell me I'm wrong:

http://www.romantic-lyrics.com/lw2.shtml

Here are some highlights I picked at random, but pretty much the whole song is this sh*t:

"If she is bad, he can't see it
She can do no wrong"

"And sleep out in the rain
If she said that's the way
It ought to be"

So that's my contribution to the list. If I find more I'll add them.

What about you guys? Heard anything so AFC that makes you want to puke lately?

"So, What Do You Do for Fun?"

She asks it casually, mid-sip. And you feel the floor open up, because the honest answer is work, gym, and a couple shows you're half-watching.

Women rarely say this out loud, but a man with a life is attractive before he says a word. The guy who spent Saturday deep-sea fishing and came back with photos and a story — he walks in already interesting.

The "22 Rules" pushed me to build a life worth talking about. Turns out the fastest way to be interesting to women is to be interested in your own life first.

Percy wrote this song by improvisation in a night club hours after being dumped for being such a chump.

The singer is a woman but the lyrics apply:

Oh, for the sake of momentum
I've allowed my fears
to get larger than life
And it's brought me to my current agendum
Whereupon I deny fulfillment has yet to arrive

And I know life is getting shorter
I can't bring myself to set the scene
Even whin it's approaching torture
I've got my routine

Oh, for the sake of momentum
Even thought I agree with that stuff
about seizing the day
But I hate to think of effort expended
All those minutes and days and hours
I've have frittered away

And I know life is getting shorter
I can't bring myself to set the scene
Even whin it's approaching torture
I've got my routine

But I can't confront the doubts I have
I can't admit that maybe the past was bad
And so, for the sake of momentum,
I'm condemning the future to death
so it can match the past

Saw some nice stuff on your list KillHog, but damn, after listening to all of them I would want to kill myself. You must have been devastated!!

"She's Out of Your League"

You've said it a hundred times. Maybe a thousand. And every time you say it, you train your brain to freeze the next time she walks into the room.

Leagues are a myth invented by guys who are scared of women.

She's a person. She has bad breath in the morning. She picks songs she can't sing in the shower. She overthinks her own texts.

Walk over. Say something. The league dissolves the second you open your mouth.

I've Got One

This one's an oldy but I heard it on the radio and couldn't help think AFC.

Billy Joel's, 'Tell her about It"

Tell her about it,
Tell her everything you feel,
Give her every reason to suspect that your for real.
Tell her about it,
Tell her all your crazy dreams,
Say how much you need her,
Let her know how much she means.

Welcome to dumpsville Billy.

I have always taken issue with the lyrics to When A Man Loves A Woman. But for my money, 'He Stopped Loving Her Today' by George Jones documents the tragedy of oneitis to devastating effect. Read em and weep.
_______

He said "I'll love you till I die",
she told him "You'll forget in time"
As the years went slowly by,
she still preyed upon his mind

He kept her picture on his wall,
went half-crazy now and then
He still loved her through it all,
hoping she'd come back again

Kept some letters by his bed
dated nineteen sixty-two
He had underlined in red
every single "I love you"

I went to see him just today,
oh but I didn't see no tears
All dressed up to go away, first time
I'd seen him smile in years

He stopped loving her today
They placed a wreath upon his door
And soon they'll carry him away
He stopped loving her today

(Spoken)
You know,
she came to see him one last time.
Aww, 'n' we all wondered if she would.
And it kept runnin' through my mind
"this time he's over her for good."

He stopped loving her today
They placed a wreath upon his door
And soon they'll carry him away
He stopped loving her today

You guys should check out 'Amy Winehouse - Stronger than me'. She sings about how her boyfriend is such a chump and a wuss. Very good lyrics.

Re:

Its kind of hard to top When a Man Loves a Woman. Alot of 60's, 70's R&B Soul songs where great songs but had AFC lyrics all over them.

Good song 'Too Late to Turn Back Now' Cornelius Brothers
AFC Quote from song

I found myself phoning her at least ten times a day
It's so unusual for me to carry on this way
I tell you ...
I can't sleep at night
Wanting to hold her tight

"How I Made Sure No Woman Ever Friend-Zoned Me Again"

She calls you when her car breaks down. When she needs help moving. When some guy she's actually dating treats her badly.

You're the listener. The reliable one. The guy who would treat her so much better, if she'd just open her eyes.

She won't. You trained her to see you as the low-effort option — the friend who requires zero risk and zero investment. Every favor dug the hole deeper.

The "22 Rules" break the pattern. You'll stop auditioning for a role she already cast and become the man she chases instead. It starts with Rule 1.

She's smaller and cuter in real life, and doesn't wear much which always helps.

One time she and her friend were discussing men who could suck their own c*cks. I said it's impossible. She said I think you need to be really flexible and have a big one. I said check and check and I still can't do it.

Her music and lyrics are pretty good, but I like her because she's got her own pool cue. I admire that in a woman.

I bring my iPod to the gym and risk hearing loss from turning it up for no other reason than so I don't hear that fukken "You're Beautiful" song on the crappy top 40 garbage they insist on playing in the overhead. Every ounce of testosterone immediately leaves the male body from the first note of that song, which is extremely dangerous while lifting heavy weights in the gym.

I'm a music afficianado and I can pretty much appreciate aspects of all genres, but this song, this fukken song is everything that's wrong with the world. Never in the history of music has a song been such a celebration of emasculation.

You all feeling me here?

You're beautiful, RT, it's true.

Roy Orbison's "Oh, Pretty Woman"

Talk about putting a chick on a pedestal, over complimenting, and AFC in general:

Pretty woman, walkin' down the street.
Pretty woman: the kind I'd like to meet.
Pretty woman. I'd only leave you. (<-- that's actually DJ)
You want the truth?
Noone can look as good as you.
Mercy.

Pretty woman, won't you pardon me?
Pretty woman, I couldn't help but see.
Pretty woman. And you look lovely as can be.
Are you lonely just like me?
(Growl)

Pretty woman, stop a while.
Pretty woman, talk a while.
Pretty woman give your smile to me.

Pretty woman, yay yay yayeah.
Pretty woman, look my way.
Pretty woman say you'll stay with me...

'Cuz I need you - I'll treat you right.
Come to me baby.
Be mine tonight...

Pretty woman, don't walk on by.
Pretty woman, don't make me cry.
Pretty woman, don't walk away... hey!
Ok.
If that's the way it must be, Ok.
I guess I'll go on home, it's late.
Maybe tommorow night - but wait...
What do I see?
Is she walkin' back to me?
Yeeaaahh.
She's walkin' back to me!

Roy is a chump. He got lucky with this one, but you and I know he eventually got dumped for being a supplicating wussbag.

RT, we'd hate to lose you over a stupid benchpress accident.
Make sure you download enough 'Nashville *****' and 'Motorhead' to your i-pod to keep testosterone flowing through your system.

I don't understand why celebrities bother devoting themselves to one woman.
Just because they write and sing AFC stuff doesn't mean they do it in real life. It just sells better.

Some bands can be quite contradictory in their lyrics as well.
Take Motley Crue on the same album you get:

AFC song:
Without you, I'd be lost
I'd slip down from the top
I'd slide down so low
Girl you'd never, never know...

Without you, without you
A sailor lost at sea
Without you, woman
The world comes down on me

Without you in my life
I'd slowly wilt and die
But with you by my side
You're the reason I'm alive
and the not-so-AFC:
We could sail away
Or catch a freight train
Or a rocketship into outer space
Nothin' left to do
Too many things were said
To ever make it feel
Like yesterday did

Seasons must change
Separate paths, separate ways
If we blame it on anything
Let's blame it on the rain

I knew it all along
I'd have to write this song
Too young to fall in love
Guess we knew it all along

That's alright, that's okay

(...)

Girl, don't go away mad...
Girl, just go away

Damn, hard to come by, but I found "More Than Words Could Say" by Alias:

Here I am at six o'clock in the morning
Still thinking about you
It's still hard, at six o'clock in the morning
To sleep without you

And I know that it might
Seem too late for love
All I know

I need you now
More than words can say
I need you now
I've got to find a way
I need you now
Before I lose my mind
I need you now
Hey, one AFC song out of 104 is pretty good. Other songs in my playlist:
LL Cool J - I'm That Type Of Guy
Kix - Sex
Venom - Countess Bathory
Guns N Roses - Madagascar
Jack Off Jill - Cvmdumpster
Altaria - Crucifix

"I'm Not Looking for Anything Serious Right Now"

When a woman says it, guys hear a confession. A heads-up. A scheduling conflict.

Here's the translation: I don't feel anything. Right now. With you.

Watch what happens when a man triggers actual attraction. The busy career, the recent breakup, the "not in a place to date" — all of it evaporates instantly. The same woman who was guarding her freedom is suddenly free every night.

The "22 Rules" explain why. When the right switches flip, her timeline rearranges itself around you.
