"She Liked You in March. It's October Now."

Attraction runs on a clock.

She flirted for weeks. Touched your arm. Found reasons to be alone with you. And you were careful. Respectful. Waiting for the right moment.

The moment had a shelf life. It expired around month two, and by the time you asked her out, she'd quietly filed you under "little brother."

One of the hardest lessons inside the 22 Rules: women rarely wait. Interest either grows or it decays, and nothing decays it faster than a man who never moves.

Make the move while she's still inventing reasons to be near you.

A lot of talk in this board has been presented regarding metrosexuality. If I had to give my take on the topic, I'd say that my opinions are ambivalent. On the positive note, I totally respect it as a philosophy that states that men and women roles should not be determined by gender. This implies that it should not be solely the man's responsibility to ask out for the date, provide most of the income for the family and make most of the political decisions. This has traditionally been the case, but thanks to feminism more and more people are realizing that women are equal to men and that gender roles mean squat. Pretty soon you'll be seeing more women that do the things listed above. The aspect of metrosexuality that I despise is the visuals, meaning the way these men are dressing up and cleansing themselves. Although I would totally appreciate a woman asking me out and assuming the dominant role in the relationship, I would never be seen wearing pink flannel with tight jeans while putting on make-up. That ain't a pretty sight IMHO. To sum up, gender differences are only applicable in the physical dimension where each gender is entitled to a different treatment of their bodies. In the social dimension, there should not be a line between how man and woman is supposed to behave.

"You'll Never Feel READY to Walk Over"

Next Monday you'll feel more confident. After the gym you'll feel more confident. After one more drink you'll feel more confident. After you get a better haircut, a better jacket, a better job.

You've been "getting ready" for two years.

She's standing ten feet away right now. She'll be gone in four minutes. No amount of preparation will manufacture the courage that only comes from moving your feet.

Walk over. Stumble through the first sentence. Let it be clumsy. Let it be imperfect. You will feel more alive in those ten seconds than you have all month.

That would be OK as an idea if we could separate physical aspects completely from emotional aspects, and social aspects, etc.

The fact is that as people we are Physical, emotional, social, spiritual beings. Physical differences between men and women affect our emotions, our behaviour, etc. There is no way that I will ever treat a woman the same way as a man in any sphere.

I'll do what I can to treat everyone fairly and with respect - but don't expect me to deny male/female gender roles. I'll be flexible with a woman I'm in a relationship with, but thats as far as it goes.

You say "I totally respect it as a philosophy that states that men and women roles should not be determined by gender" - well how are you going to determine male and female roles then?

What a ridiculous idea! The sooner it dies out, the better.

Yes. And communism should work.

Unfortunately it doesn't...human beings just aren't wired that way.

Get the idea? :p

Maybe your idea is not really what metrosexuality is... Its basically just a stupid word TV invented to describe guys who take care of themselves. Expensive haircuts and expensive fashionable clothes, etc.

If a straight guy does that, yet acts like a homo, then he should be shot imo (not that I have anything against gays, but that’s just taking the fad way too far). But I don’t see any problem with it if the guy remains hetero or whatever

That's a nice piece of pseudo-philosophy you posted. There's a search button on the upper right hand corner where you can do a search on the tirelessly mundane topic: metrosexual*

"Stop Asking Your Friends What to Text Her"

Your buddy Dave has been single for three years and thinks "hey u up" is a valid strategy. Your other buddy Mike just got dumped and told you to "just be yourself."

You showed them her text. You asked them to decode the emoji. You drafted four responses and sent the screenshot to the group chat for a vote.

She's been waiting forty minutes.

Put the phone down. Stop crowdsourcing your love life. Type something that sounds like you. Hit send. Then go do literally anything else with your evening.

Same here buddy, I would obviously give the girl more attention.

You say "I totally respect it as a philosophy that states that men and women roles should not be determined by gender" - well how are you going to determine male and female roles then?
Simple!! there aren't any. Each person can be whom they want to be without society's definitions of what a gender is supposed to do.

What a ridiculous idea! The sooner it dies out, the better.
I don't think you got my point.

Unfortunately it doesn't...human beings just aren't wired that way.
Gender roles are the result of culture, not anything biological. It is society's influence that leads us to believe these matters.

Maybe your idea is not really what metrosexuality is... Its basically just a stupid word TV invented to describe guys who take care of themselves. Expensive haircuts and expensive fashionable clothes, etc.
If you've got a better name for this philosophy I describe, then give it to us GENIUS!!

Come on now, men are men and women are women.

To me personally, femininity is sexy. Masculinity is not.

Everyone should be treated fairly and equally but genders are naturally different.

Assuming there is no disrespect, I see no problem with gender roles.

Baaaaaa!

Lets all swallow one more pop-culture, soundbite, buzz term before our handlers put us back in the pen for the night.

'Metrosexual' is just another ridiculous concept sold to an ever more gender-confused male population as some key that will solve the problem of "what women really want." What's more pathetic is that we seem to think we even need to consider whether 4 homosexual men on a TV show can show heterosexual men how to pick up women by becoming more androgenous.

Switch channels now,..*click*

"Geez Oprah, why can't men just man-up? Where have all the cowboys gone?"

*click*

Do you want to be a girl's heterosexual 'f_ag-hag' fantasy by becoming more androgenous or do you want to get after it with a chick who's into you in the masculine?

DISTURBED: The problem with your understanding is that while the possibility exists that men and women are 'equal' in most respects, we're still different, physiologically, evolutionarily, emotionally and psychologically and there's nothing wron with it - it's worked pretty well for tens of thousands of years. Androgeny isn't the way to attraction and even the women who've swallowed this to the greatest extent still belie their intent with their behaviors regularly and predictably enough to draw conclusions from it.

In this respect metrosexuality is just another sugar coating for men to abandon masculinity as a negative. It's never the feminine that is in the negative always the masculine.

Metrosexuals are high maintenance men who are self absorbed and enjoy spending money to make themselves look good.

In other words: As fake as they can be.

Now if you're rich (Making more than $80k a year and your job demands you look pristine) then it's a good excuse. Looking metro in college or working for $8 an hour is laughable.
