Any suggestions on meeting women via match.com, for the more mature man?
You asked her if she wanted to grab coffee. Then you asked if the time worked. Then you asked if the place was okay. Then you asked if she'd prefer tea.
Four questions. Four chances for her to say no. Four signals that you're terrified of making a decision.
Plan it. Pick the place. Pick the time. Tell her where to meet you. She'll either show up or she won't.
Either way, you look like a man instead of a scared little boy.
You've replayed it a hundred times. She stood three feet away, scrolling her phone. You had an opening. You composed the perfect line — after she was gone.
For all you know, she's married now. To some guy who said something. Anything.
Openers are cheap. Almost any sentence works when it's delivered within three seconds. The expensive part is the standing there, drafting and deleting, while the window quietly closes.
The "22 Rules" stripped out my hesitation. What to open with, how to keep it alive, and the one habit that costs guys more women than anything else: waiting for perfect.

Ugghhh...that line literally states rescuer/savior and will probably nix any shot at a bad boy / mystery angle. Also note the more supplicative non-prize tone.ogre said:for fun:

yes I am doing that... I haven't been on this forum for awhile. I was using myspace and I found that it's great for political blogging but it sucks for meeting women. or maybe it's just me. I dunno. I met a chick from myspace about a month ago, we clicked, it was like magic, everything went perfect, and then she just flaked. it's like no matter what I do, I lose. I had another date from myspace with the Chick from Hell. it's a funny story I should post it.
vulpine: of any of the ho's you said "no thanks" to, did any of them write back?
I can try the "it's not polite to ignore thing" - but will that actually get the chicks to come around or does it just serve to feed your ego?
ok, I have this in my profile..... what do you all think:

Post-Graduate with Honors from U.H.K. (University of Hard Knocks) And currently working on my dissertation on Life, the Universe, and Everything. Aum...
favorite hot spots:
My place! JK... seriously, though, someplace quiet where you can see stars at night.....
btw I sent out about 150 contacts so far. mostly emails, one or two lines. so far I got only 2 replies (plus a few fakes/scams) I got one wink right away from someone who I was only mildly interested in and we IM'd and then talked on the phone for awhile, but it just fizzled apart after that. she said she was sick with the flu or something. should I wait a week and give her a call?
That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?
She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."
She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.
I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.
Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.
Mass mailings of emails seldom work, most guys do it so a woman could easily get 20 or more emails a day. Ones that are longer (but not too long) and is specific to her profile have a better chance of getting replies. Also, getting a phone number can be a unnecessary step. You can get a date from just a couple of well written emails.CoolRunning said:150 contacts with 2 replies?? What email are you sending out?
BTW, I have found that you should take it from the phone to a meeting ASAP.

I could talk to any woman I wasn't attracted to. Charming, funny, relaxed. Then a gorgeous woman looked my way and I'd become a sweating, babbling mess.
The fix took me years to find and ten minutes to learn. Nervousness and excitement are the same physical state — pounding heart, adrenaline, flushed face. Your brain just picks the label. And you can pick a better one.
Rule 16 shows you how. You feel the nerves, relabel them as excitement, and let that energy pour out as enthusiasm. Women notice the guy radiating it. They always do.
