Women (or men for that matter) can't hide who they really are for more than a couple of months. I think it's the wrong conclusion.

The actual issue is that his behavior over the long course of knowing her and the relationship lowered her respect for him enough that she felt this was acceptable and was OK with doing it.

Trying to hide a woman from other men is simply trying in vain to hide the issues that should be brought to the surface and worked on, not buried.

At the end of the day, too many men are more worried about how other men will behave around their women instead of how they are behaving around her.

Men hang around your woman either because they want your woman or they had a past with your woman and now are keeping her on arms length optionality / need someone to get emotional satisfaction from / want to play cat and mouse with her to get back together.
