If you imagine a suave guy in your mind I'm sure the first thing you think of is an easy smile.

This is something I've always struggled with. Growing up I rarely smiled. I think this was mostly because I was shy and didn't like outwardly expressing my feelings, even good feelings, so I bottled them up. I think it is also partly because I think a lot and when you are concentrating hard it is natural to frown a little. So I tend to smile on the inside and people can't tell when im happy.

I try and force myself consciously to smile but it turns into a grimace as im straining. I also feel incredibly self conscious

Anyone got any tips for this or exercises to help develop a natural and habitual smile.

I wanna be one of those guys who naturally smiles all the time

Look in the mirror and pick out a smile that you like. Just experiment with different faces. I've also had this problem because I grew up as a shy kid and never really smiled. When I started learning all this stuff, a smile was what I really needed, but I would never do it because I was insecure by how it would have looked since I've never done it before. So instead I would stand in the mirror, try out different smiles that I thought looked the best, and that's what I sticked with. Now I'm smiling almost all the time.

Must be a common problem for shy people. I also feel weird smiling because I'm just not use to doing it.
