Isn't It Time for Sosuave.net to Upgrade?

I hope this isn't taken in the wrong way by the site administrators or the moderators, but why haven't this site been upgrade. One others boards I frequent, you can put up avatars, post videos or pictures directly to the site, and you click an option on whether or you agree or disagree with a post. Whether or not the post made you laugh, you though post was the "greatest of all time, or you though the post was straight up wack. I feel that adding this few things, especially the ability to upload pictures and videos to the site would improve the site and make it more interactive. Or are these upgrades cost prohibitive.

Also, considering that most of the members of this site is adult males, why is profanity censored?

Upgrades would be cool. I'm not on any other sites but I like the simplicity of this one, not too much other $hit going on. It's why craigslist is so successful, easy, simple, not 1000 ads everywhere distracting you.

Honestly the simplicity of this forum works and keeps it clutter-free. Avatars can get ridiculous, same with photos and videos. It would be 10x the moderating work. SoSuave is about content, not web garbage.

I would actually support a lifting of the profanity ban. We use it anyway.

Sosuave is built to harvest email addresses to sell to dating gurus peddling their wares. Once your email is in the system, you're not worth that much any more. That's why we have a bare-bones vbulletin forum without bandwidth sucking features like embedded images and videos. I have always said that the ten-post limitation is a related issue. The people who have long discussions with each other are not the ones paying the bills. These are business decisions; I understand.

The 10 post ban has it's reasons, I would have to agree with them. I feel it would better if they changed it from a post limit to a thread limit. That way if someone's fully involved in a discussion on a particular thread, they wouldn't have to worry about being cut off.

While we're at it, why not some kind of flagging system to alert the MODs of trolls, it doesn't seem to be too out of hand but they're still out there....

Agreed, it is refreshing to see a no-pictures forum. I just looked at bodybuilding.com, and you see a lot of guys posting ridiculous gifs instead of talking. I don't want to see the pictures people would put up here.

But yes, uncensor. People write these words anyway. If there was a ban on circumventing the filter it would make more sense, but now it doesn't. Might as well remove the filter and not make it look like we are ashamed of using certain words.

Besides, it is annoying to see people post "**** that *****, she's such a ****!"

On the other hand, if a guy won't even take the time to circumvent the filter, that is a good way to gauge his general mental level.

As for the banning of profanity, it is a little overboard. I can see not wanting dialogue to turn into cussing matches. But you can't even type Charles D!ckens' name on here. (I'm serious.)

Not to be a d!ck and beat on a dead horse, but y'all REALLY need to do something about the profanity filter. Seriously, in post I just made, I quoted Rosebudd (one of the pimps interviewed in American Pimp) Anyway, he wrote his autobiography which he penned under his birth name. In order to properly cite the quote and just in case somebody might want to purchase the book, I included Rosebudd's given name which is John ****son. Just as what has happened here Rosebudd's entire surname was censored out, so I had to go back and place an asterisk in place of the "i,".

I understand the rationale of not wanting discussions to degenerate into low brow profanity laden shouting matches, but at the end of the day, this mainly frequented by adult males who are in pursuit of trying to score chicks. Plus the filter is a little ridiculous when guys are circumventing it anyway. Not being able to type a person's name or w*manese is doing a little too much.
