May 26 to August? 3 months, 25 lbs? 2 lbs a week? I'm currently 110 lbs. at 5'11". I hate hwen people ***** about being 140 and saying "Ecto to the core... I can't gain weight." STFU, I have it worse than you do. I've been lifting on and off for about a whole year, and gained about 10 lbs. If I train consistently, how long would you guess it takes to get to 150, 160, 170?

Everyone is different. Personally, I made huge gains in a short space of time, but aside from working out 4 days per week, I was drinking protein shakes and eating every 3hrs with protein as part of every meal.

Try following Diesel's guide. It worked very well for me!

The city that sleeps. Sometimes.
its not THAT hard

workout like a madman
eat like a madman

dont just drink protein shakes, drink weightgainers with milk.
eat a LOT
even fastfood unless you do that too much

and of course, have a good workout thats based on the big three - squat/bench/deadlift. I'd say three times a week and NO CARDIO. But don't overwork yourself, give your muscles time to recover and grow.. Worst thing you can do is work out too much.

But seriously, eat a LOT + work out using the big three and not the vanity exercises, and you'll grow.

I went from 135 to 155 in a couple months just with just some food and creatine back when i was 18 or something.

Everyone was like WHOA.

I was in the same exact situation as you. I was just an inch shorter at the time, that's the only difference; I'm at 148 now.

The basic thing that you can do is hit the gym regularly - with a proper routine - and eat frequently. Eat, often, and regularly. Eat a lot of GOOD food - tuna, rice, chicken, etc.

Have a meal six times per day. A few protein shakes to consume after your workout, and drink 1.5 liters of water a day.

You won't gain 25 pounds that quickly. It's too quick and if it was possible, it's unhealthy. It will result as a great shock to the body. You can get close to 130, though.

Do you still look scrawny? Or is it just skinny?

Like I look at it as: Scrawny (me), skinny, average, built (about same weight as average, but average has BF), chunky, obess.

At your current weight? That should be very possible, but it will take a lot of discipline. The working out part is the easy part, what's probably going to be difficult for you is the eating. Get used to eating when you're not hungry every day. Eventually you get used to it, but for the first month or two it can be tough to eat enough clean calories.

A word of warning...

Go and sign up at www.fitday.com and track your calories for a week or two to find your maintenance...this is ESSENTIAL...without knowing your maintenance your run the very real risk of eating far too many calories and gaining too much fat along with muscle(I know,I've done it)or not eating enough and not gaining as much as you can.

***Finding maintenance - Weigh yourself Monday morning then input your food everyday for a whole week(this took me around 1 hour to add all my custom foods on the first day and around 2-3 minutes to track everyday)then weigh yourself again the following Monday...if you haven't gained anything then you've found your maintenance...this might take 2 weeks to find but is worth it - DO NOT go by some general equation found on the net...everybody is different!***

Once you have your maintenance simply add 20% when you bulk or subtract 20% to cut.

Add this to a comprehensive 3 day split and a good 8 hours sleep per night and your good to go!

***Side Note:When I first bulked around a year or so ago I didn't track my calories at all,ate everything I could get my hands on and ended up consuming around 1500 calories a day more than I really needed to...needless to say I gained about 35 pounds but my bodyfat% shot up from 13-14% to 25%...find your maintenance!***

I'm 5'11 and the lighest ive ever been was 140.

And I thought I was skinny!! Oh boy!

Eat! Eat! Eat!

If that doesn't work, then find herbal remedies that help appetite. I tried this stuff called BioStrath.. its some Swiss stuff. Worked to give me more appetite.

You can also try sour and bitter like lemon to make you hungrier and get the stomach acid churning.

There's also this stuff called bitterroot (spelled right?). Anyway, its supposed to be extreemly potent and gets you hungry like mad 20 min after ingestion.

It took me 2.5 years to go from 140 to 190. Gained alot of muscle and some fat.

If you are consistent and disciplined you should be able to gain WAAAYYY more in that time period than I have.

heres some for motivation http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/trans15.htm
"Being a hardgainer, I began eating about seven to eight times a day. And I'm not talking snacks here. Each meal would be about 3-4 plates worth of food such as chicken, eggs, pizza, veggies, hamburgers; anything I could get my hands on I devoured.

The best part was that I wasn't even forcing it down. Since we were lifting so frequently and with so much intensity, my muscles were literally crying out for fuel.

In order to gain muscle, hardgainers must eat an insane amount of calories, much more than the average person does. I honestly cannot stress this enough. It took me 18 years to finally realize this. After about a two weeks, the results I began seeing are what made bodybuilding my number one priority in my life. "

yes eat eat eat but dont be anal about it and only eat chicken, tuna etc. eat with atleast some variety. ask yourself if you had added 25lbs in that time, what would you have done? Go backwards, start from august and see what you must have done to get there.. maybe photos now to keep on track and you can go back and look where youve come? Tape measurements every two weeks (this really helped me get there)? Stuff like that. Take full control and responsibility of this process and have fun.

I hear the Super Squats program can drop 30 lbs on your frame in 6 weeks, but it'll be fat as well as muscle. Might want to give it a try.

What kind of foods would that consist of? Any particularly calorie-rich foods you used?

you can do it.

I'm bulking right now myself. I started on April 22 and have since gone from 134 to 139. It may not seem like much, but 3lbs of that are lean muscle.

Of course it's possible. I'm not a specialist at any of this, but from experience, I know that you have to plan your meals, your intake, your workouts, and be consistent!

Remember that it's 70% diet/rest and 30% workouts.

Yes, eat a lot. But watch what you eat also, very specifically...be careful that you do not gain too much fat. Keep track of your weight, body fat, and your workouts. You want to know what's working and if you're making progress.

Get at least 8hrs of sleep a night.

I could say more, but I'd be giving away stuff I've learned from a book I bought...

...I would highly recommend purchasing the Anthony Ellis program. Pook, one of the posters on this site used it, as have many others. It really helps guide you with workouts and scheduling/planning.

My personal goal is to get to 180lbs and 11% BF or lower, by June 2007. I'm 139lbs and 11% BF right now. That would be a little more than 40lbs in over a year. It's definitely achievable.

You want to gain weight. Do it the right way, and be consistent. Don't worry so much about results, but worry about getting in a rhythm. Results will be inevitable.

good luck

breakfast ,post workout meal and pre-bedtime meal are the most important meals of the day IMO. if you can eat 1,000 calories in those meals and then have two 1,000 calories shakes, that's 4000 calories already.Just take some digestive enzymes and use a colon cleanser to keep things moving, also so you can free up more room and eat MORE.Because if you are eating and digesting alot of food, if all that crap just sits inside your colon- you're not gonna want to eat as much if you are backed up- but if you are 'regular', you and taking digestive enzymes- you can eat more and at the same time expell more. Also ,if you eat ALOT of calories for four days and then eat low calories for two days, it rewires your bodys metabolism so that it dosen't get used to the high ammount of calories you take in and you have a somewhat more consistant level of gains.

I'm not familiar with this. Got any reading material (url, book, articles) for me? Fluctuating caloric intake doesn't seem like it would regulate much of anything.

it's called intermitent fasting, you eat lightly for a few days and then raise the caloric intake. They did experiments with mice and they found that mice that were fed on this cycle were much healthier and fit then the mice on a regular diet.I'd get the article but i am lazy.Have you ever noticed when you eat say 3,000 calories for a few weeks to gain weight ,you will have to continuisly add more calories if you want to make gains? it's because your body gets used to the surplus of calories and you it needs more stimulis and sometimes you can't excerisize more to get a result. The trick is to create a deficiant by eating lightly for a few days to kind of retune the body to absorb more calories (or some sh!t) try it for yourself, don't worry you're NOT gonna loose mass or anything.Eat ALOT for a few days and then eat lightly for two, you'll notice that you may be hungry on the lighter days, but it'll prime you appetite for when you have your high cal days. It's an awesome cycle because your appetite it always healthy as opposed to having to eat a monsterous ammount of food every single day.Or you can eat lightly first for a few days and then eat alot..either way i can almost guarentee that you will notice a nice difference.the thing is , i believe that's how the body was meant to function and it becomes more and more efficiant with absorbing food and nutrients during the cycle, gaining more size easier and naturally.also the body can only absorb and utilize soo much anyways, the little 'break' from eating soo much makes sense to reprime the metabolism and enzymes...not to mention your colon! :D
