I was having lunch with this 20 year old junior a few weeks ago, and she made a snide remark about a guy we both know that he "talks too much" etc etc. I didn't agree or disagree, I just let her go on talking behind the guy's back. He's got a good reputation, but she seems to despise him for no reason. She's always been fond or attracted to me since I first met her 2 years ago. She's boring as I am, quiet, Smart, very hard studier, straight A's, but accident prone, clumsy, non-athletic, just a nerd, but exotic looking, with a nice bod. I like her name too. It would go well with my last name.
Should I have called her out on talking about the other guy? That she must like him because he "bothers" her? Should I have said her name like her father might, and then proceed to tell her that she shouldn't talk about people behind their backs, that there's no reason to gossip? I feel as though, because of the age gap between us at 14 years, that I'm Jeremy Irons in the movie "Lolita" trying to be tender with and teach her.
