I think FB chat can be even more dangerous than text. Since responses generally come a lot quicker, you give yourself more opportunities, in a shorter time span, to get caught up in the downfalls of texting. It's too easy to get too chatty when you have a full keyboard and responses in a matter of seconds.
I would make sure to keep it very brief on a FB convo. Plus, you don't want it to seem like you have nothing to do, so you are sitting on FB for an extended period of time.
