"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.

Relationship Backstory:

- We have been dating for about five months
- Great girl, next to no issues with her
- Super friendly/feminine

So I'm at her Christmas party the other day and I am sitting at a table with a couple of her friends. There were around 20+ people there and they had all branched off into smaller groups. We're all shooting the sh!t (I don't remember about what) and one of her friends said something to me (which I don't recall) and I said something back to her (again, which I don't recall) but it was in no way rude or offensive. Well this friend of hers makes a comment about what I do for work. I'm not a janitor but for examples sake said:

"What would you know? You're a janitor"

I just ignored the comment and kept talking with the others at the table but I felt like pointing out how fat this chick was, how man-jawed she was and how masculine her voice was. But I said nothing, because it was at her parents house and I didn't want to start a scene.

Should I have said anything? Was ignoring her the right course of action? I didn't want to come off as butthurt but I also wanted this chick to think twice before she ran her mouth again. Should I have verbally punched her in the kisser?

Your thoughts, gents?

Thanks

"I'm Not Looking for Anything Serious Right Now"

When a woman says it, guys hear a confession. A heads-up. A scheduling conflict.

Here's the translation: I don't feel anything. Right now. With you.

Watch what happens when a man triggers actual attraction. The busy career, the recent breakup, the "not in a place to date" — all of it evaporates instantly. The same woman who was guarding her freedom is suddenly free every night.

The "22 Rules" explain why. When the right switches flip, her timeline rearranges itself around you.

I would have asked her to elaborate on what she meant. Then she'll go on explaining and rationalizing. She made herself look bad at the table, I'm sure everyone there noticed. I would have personally stood up for you if you were there, because that kind of sh*t is rude as hell.

Ask your girlfriend about it.

These types of social situations need to be handled with finesse and keeping your cool, and not being butthurt.

Hell, corner her fat friend and tell her that what she said was extremely rude and command her not to do it again.

Often the strongest message you can send is none at all.
It's easy to be bigger than small people.
I would've just ignored her and gone out of my way to ignore her.

If she asked me another question, I would give a short answer and then talk to someone else. If she tried to inject herself into a conversation by giving an opinion, just change the subject or walk away.

If she confronts you for being rude. Calmly say you don't know what she's talking about and ignore her again.

If you have your wits about you and are in the mood, you can agree and amplify. Say something like: "Hey, I may be a janitor but if I don't do my job properly, people die!" Table laughs, situation defused.

I've used that line when gaming women. I'd tell them I work a menial job like a stable boy or head dishwasher and then hit em with that phrase and usually get a laugh.

"You need people like me because there are people like you running around clogging toilets"

"She Laughed All Night. Then She Ghosted You. Here's Why."

Dinner ran three hours. She laughed at everything. You walked her to her car thinking this one's locked in.

Then: nothing. Two texts. No reply. What happened?

You did what most men do on a great date. You filled every silence, answered every question, and left her with nothing to wonder about. No mystery. Nothing to sit with when she got home.

Rule 3 of the "22 Rules" changes the ending: tell her a little, hold back the rest, and let her imagination do the chasing. The ghosting stops too.

As they say, silence is the best answer to a fool. I think you handled it excellently. She only made herself look bad and I'm sure others around would be looking at her in disgust. Good job.

P.S. if she keeps insulting you, just smile at her for a brief second and continue about whatever it is that you were doing before like absolutely nothing happened and stay unfazed. It will drive her mad that she can't rile you up.

Chill, man you handled it well. Make it clear to your gf that you don't like her. Next time she says something like that just pause and say "listen, I don't have time right now to rip you a new aṣṣhole, maybe next time"... and go on to saying what you were. In other words, make the entire group laugh at her expense.
