"You'll Never Feel READY to Walk Over"

Next Monday you'll feel more confident. After the gym you'll feel more confident. After one more drink you'll feel more confident. After you get a better haircut, a better jacket, a better job.

You've been "getting ready" for two years.

She's standing ten feet away right now. She'll be gone in four minutes. No amount of preparation will manufacture the courage that only comes from moving your feet.

Walk over. Stumble through the first sentence. Let it be clumsy. Let it be imperfect. You will feel more alive in those ten seconds than you have all month.

Hi all

I'm going on a 4 month trip (perhaps even longer) where I will be staying at the same place for most of the time. I will be meeting a lot of new people, but what is scaring me is the fact I always come over as a silent person.

I am silent because of:

1: low self-esteem
2: I think when I talk what I want to say, I come over as one of those guys who talks about stupid stuff, is annoying when he speaks,... (this comes forth from number one)

But how do I change this, I heard so much stories of people who are doing such trips it's the time of their life because of the people they meet and so forth. I want this trip to be life changing and a great experience. But how can I change the way I talk to come over as an enjoying person to be around with or have interesting stuff to say?

Also what 'makes' people annoying when they talk. What ere the things which make you say he's an annoying person to talk with?

"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.

I learned that it is more about WHO you talk to than your conversational skills per se.

In the game, you start talking to a female and see how she responds.

You should do the exact same thing in conversations with people. Say something (in a friendly way) and see if they try to talk to you.

You have to find people that you "click with."

As an introvert, I'd rather find one or two cool people to talk to for a long time rather than "try to be the life of the party" and attempt 20 3-minute conversations that go nowhere because I have no common interests with those people.

The long and the short if it is you should be fishing to find people that WANT to talk to you and that you are compatible with.

Finally, try to talk about things you are interested in and/or passionate about.

There has to at least one topic that, if I brought it up, you would talk for hours.

If you can try to fit that topic into the context of the situation, that's much better.
