Damian said:I've said it and I've said it again, negativity will only lead you into bad places.
Believe me, I know how it feels to be a total social outcast/loser. Been there, done that for three full years of middle school, but I've turned my life a full 180 degrees since then. Now, I'm doing awesome. I have all the friends I could possibly ask for and I get invited to more parties than I can go to. Sure, it's a rather drastic difference, but believe me, there was no one 'magic advice' that I took to instantly turn my life around. It required months upon months of work and self-improvement. With that aside, I will explain exactly why people persist in disliking you.
The keyword here is NEGATIVITY. Everybody gets it once in a while. When you get dumped or when you fail an important test, you might get a bit down, and this is perfectly appropriate and acceptable. It is okay to be negative in small doses. That's just the way of life, with its ups and downs.
Now understand that in your constand mindset of "depression", you are CONSTANTLY and PERSISTENTLY negative. Of course, some people will try to help you or reach out, but because you have been so conditioned as a social outcast, you have trained yourself never to trust anybody but yourself. Of course, there will be a few good samaritans who will actually try to give you a helping hand, but you will not accept it because of your own self-piteous nature.
Now, think of this dilemma from ANOTHER person's perspective, say, Bob. Bob is a friendly guy, he gets along with his group of friends, and is generally a nice guy. He notices that you are emotionally down (sad, angry, or otherwise) and tries to lend a helping hand. He might spend some time to talk to you or even invite you to join his clique in hopes of breaking through your negativity. HOWEVER, because you are so self-absorbed in your own negativity, you don't accept his help, and even if you do, you remain paranoid of people's intentions. At one point, you have to realize that Bob will appropriately think, "Hmm, well I tried to help him, but if he just wants to keep staying negative then it's his problem." and he is perfectly right for thinking so.
Again, I will reiterate that it is perfectly okay to be negative SOMETIMES, but this is only in contrast to a vast majority of POSITIVE attitudes. If you are down, some people will take time out of their own lives to try to brighten your day. However, since you refuse their help and choose to remain negative, you are presumed to be completely absorbed in your own dark ball of angst.
This is an unconscious conditioning of the mind that comes from being ostracized. General suspicion of others motives when they get close. Sabotaging of relationships. Hostility of anybody who tries to criticize. It is nobody's fault but your own, and that is a fact that you will have to accept sooner or later. Nobody on this planet OWES you anything. Nobody is OBLIGATED to help you with anything. But when somebody DOES help you, you twist their motives horribly and snap at them.
In this world, your own misery is your own choice. People make fun of you because, in your negativity, you have created a scapegoat for them. People are annoyed by you because you are persistently negative. People do not want to interact with you because you are hostile. People do not want to give you any constructive criticism because you will twist it into "insults". People tease you because you are easily infuriated and annoyed. People don't even feel like dignifying your replies because you are constantly coming up with reasons justifying your negativity instead of working to improve yourself. People don't like you because you don't even like yourself.
The only change that can come of anything can only come from YOU. NOBODY ELSE. You can can get a sad, angry, or annoyed as you want, but the only solution to your problem is if you admit that it is your OWN fault. After that, all you need to do is to solve the REAL problem.
