I wouldn't necessarily say this, though definitely if it's snapchat, tiktok... or really anything except IG. I would say if you ask girl for her phone # and she wants your sm handle instead instead, obliging her request is simping for sure.
Girls say they like guys without SM, which means they like guys with SM. The reason is that it's social proof and it shows you are talking to other women which creates competition anxiety.
Instagram is the only SM you need, and only one I have myself. I use it maybe 15m a week. I'd say it's an incredible platform to meet women because it's so passive and easy to keep them interested (just post funny memes) and it can be used to gauge their interest (if they always watch your stories and comment it's a green light). If your account is high value (interesting content/photos) they will even DM you first.
My main strategy is talk to foreign women so when I travel abroad I can potentially meet up with them. I already posted about meeting a Euro chick on IG and ended up going to Spain with her...How else are you going to meet foreign women? It gives you access to any women on the planet. You're basically just creating leads/funnels and planting a seed with almost no effort. That said, SM is otherwise pretty gay and useless when it comes to dealing with women in your own city and imo it is definitely a hindrance for local dating.
You're not the first or 20th person to post something like this. Now that you've made this realization, stop adding women on SM to ask them out. It's a waste of time and you're also giving them exactly what they want, which is more followers.

It’s pretty simple. You get her number or you walk. If she is interested in you then she will give you her number. A lot of women will give guys they aren’t interested their social media instead of the number. By you only accepting the number, you weed out low interest women. Do you think a woman would offer Jason Statham her IG or her number? You know the answer.

To navigate the world of women a man needs to know how to deal with every sphere. SM is one of them. You can be on it or off it but your 'story' has to be real, and it will be real one way or another. Either you are the mysterious guy who doesnt care about SM, the guy with a basic profile who uses it socialise and meet ppl, or the guy with a big SM presence, either for business or personal use.
My suggestion would be to have a 'minimal' IG and just use if women or guys wanna use it to connect.
Girls will think your weird based on your IRL personality and whether you are a weird guy with no SM or a mysterious guy with no SM just depends on who you actually are.
Little to no SM has been my mode for about a year. It’s really not a value raising proposition if you don’t put a lot of time into it. I have a couple of posts, what I focus on more is my ratio of followers to following. I wiped my old one out when I broke up with my wife. Too much of her social world on there. So I have a small list. One good thing about SM is that if you’re good at it you can effectively start a side hustle promoting links.
