She's the second girl I've had that experience with, and both I truly respect for telling me and letting me decide whether or not I wanted to continue. Long story short, I told her I was sorry, but wasn't willing to risk it.

Why'd I make this topic? Because of what she told me next...

"You know what's funny? Out of the last 10 guys I've told, you're the FIRST to say no."

REALLY?

Don't get me wrong, I really, REALLY do empathize with her situation, but guys are really this desperate that they're willing to risk contracting an incurable disease just to get laid? I realize the worst part about herpes is the stigma of having it, but THAT'S THE PROBLEM--having it will decrease your dating pool. And she was attractive, but not insanely hot or anything. It just baffles me that I was the only one out of TEN FVCKING GUYS to say no. Jesus.

Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.

lol, did she 'time frame' her last 10 guys (her last 10 lays) for you?

"in the last week, the last 10 guys...."

if she's on anti virals her risk of transmission is extremely low

Last ten? Sounds like it was recent. Some ladies will take a few years to go thru ten others a few weeks.

You should have calmly asked her if she is having or recently has had an outbreak. If she said yes, get a BJ from her and connect later. If no, wear a condom and all is well. I've dated women with HSV2 and it's never been an issue. Keep in mind that 80-90% of people with HSV DON'T show symptoms so you've probably already had sex with someone who has it. L-Lysine greatly reduces viral shedding too.

What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.

You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.

I have ocd. Never caught anything but had a few scare and these just mess with you for life.

Personally i dont thing she was saying the truth.. Maybe wanted you to feel special (test)

Anyway, she might have it but it could be none contagious however, like you.. I would say no.

HSV 1 can infect your d!ck briefly, but in all likelihood you will only get one outbreak. It prefers the mouth and HSV2 prefers the genitals.
Thanks for clarifying. The HSV2 outbreak looks alot more horrible than cold sore ( HSV1 ).

Consider yourself fortunate. Most do not even tell. I wasn't told until after our marathon sex session. By the heavens I was spared and I didn't get infected. HSV is a tricky little virus. A lot of the information already given above is misguided. HSV-1 & HSV-2 can appear in more than just the genitals and mouth. G-HSV-1 (HSV-1 mouth to genitals). HSV 1 & 2 ARE transmittable with our without an active outbreak. She sucks your d!ck and she has HSV-1, you can get G-HSV-1. Alternatively, there have been cases where HSV-2 have shown up on other parts of the body, including butt, legs, chest, etc. The HSV virus has been around before humans. Other animals have a variation of it as well. It only became classified as an STD after a mid-1980's Time magazine article claiming it was an epidemic. Prior to this article, it was called a cold sore with no social negativity. HSV Herpes is actually a skin disease. Since it is a skin disease, it can be transferred by skin to skin contact. For example, if a person has the virus sitting on their skin around the pubic area and it rubs on your thigh, it is very possible that the virus can be transferred to your thigh. However, the severity of the HSV outbreaks depend on the strength of your immune system, stress, and overall health. If you have a compromised immune system, flu, another virus, cold, etc.; HSV can come out to play. Stress, alcohol chocolate and other foods rich in L-Argentine also allow the virus to come out and play.

You were right to decline. However, never take Herpes for granted and always protect yourself. If someone catches it and has a weakened immune system, it's pure hell as they have chronic out breaks. The L-Lysine @ 1000MG twice a day is nearly as effective as Valtrex some studies have shown. However, if you can avoid it, it is best to do so. Again, consider yourself very fortunate that she shared this information with you. Most do not.

It depends which virus goes where. Each inoculates against the other.

HSV 1 is adapted to the mouth, and will produce nastier cold sores there.
HSV2 is adapted to the genitals, and will give worse outbreaks there.

If a girl with oral HSV1 gives you an unprotected BJ, you will get genital-HSV1, which will likely by asymptomatic or give you a very mild outbreak - but still makes you a carrier when having sex with other women.

My ex refused to get her HSV properly classified after it was vaguely diagnosed (I think it was 2) and also refused to do antivirals for some reason, so I just broke up because it was p*ssing me off. She was getting angry because I wouldn't have sex with her even though she wouldn't bother to even get a proper check or medical treatment.

Either way, personally I would avoid sex with a girl with herpes if they don't take precautions like anti-virals, but would consider it if they did.

EDIT - Okay RUG just beat me to it with a much more informative post...!

Never had dealings with this touch wood.

I know a few people with the cold sore germ - I think that's gross and try not to get involved with women who have this. Is that me being snobby?

Soon to be MD here. Should chime in as I personally had to do several reports on STDs. @MoreThanSmooth is completely correct. You can get oral herpes HSV 1 on your Genitals or HSV2 on your mouth. Though these types of infections are fairly uncommon and without any active sores pretty rare.
What his reply does not mention is that although the majority of people with herpes do not show any symptoms or even know they have it. They can still shred the virus without having any outbreaks. Now, the risk of a person shredding their virus and infecting another individual without an outbreak is fairly low. In addition, the chances of getting herpes from a one time encounter are fairly low as long as the person does not have any active cold sores in any parts of their bodies.
That being said, herpes can be transmitted from and to any part of the body even without any visible sores. They are called asymptomatic and they only shed about half the amount that people with herpes symptoms shed. But can be just as contagious.
Chances are every single one of you has been with someone who has HSV 1 or 2

No, it's being cautious. Always a plus in these times. Seems many men just jump at the opportunity for sex w/o weighing the cost benefit analysis.
