It looks really good from the preview but I am debating whether to go see it since I have seen all of this type of action in other movies before. Worth Seeing it??

the story concept has a lot of potential - i love apocolypse stories myself. i think the reason we are seeing so many of them lately is because on a subconscious level we are realizing that we may be approaching the end of things (that 'something', who knows what, is going to bring our existence to a sudden end fairly soon).

the problem with anything involving will smith though is that at least the first 50% of the movie will involve almost no action as he engages in scenes based around his 12 patented facial expressions (hence why the first 30 minutes will be him and his kid and then him washing the dog).

will smith is the black tom cruise. their movies never suck, but are always formulaic.

now, what they should have done for this movie is use a Sin City / 300 style of filming.

Omega Man seems to be based off on a novel called I am Legend

I am Legend is a 50+ Year old vampire classic. It inspired Romero's Night of the Living Dead and the vamps in the book are nothing like Dracula. Its a nice short book, I finished it in one sitting. The ending has everything to do with the book's title. But I am not going to spoil it for you guys (although I hear the movie changes the ending).

Richard Matheson is one of the most prolific writers of the 20th century. I am Legend inspired one of my student films when I was at film school in New York. Easily the best vampire book I've ever read.

Suffice it to say I was jacking off when I saw the trailer a few months back. Though the book and the film will be vastly different. I like the fact that Will Smith signed on to play Neville but for the life of me I cannot find who will be playing his nemesis Ben Cortman.
