What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.
You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.

There's a saying that is similar in nearly all religions.
We reach nirvana through way of samsara.
You reach christ through suffering.
Its more difficult for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than a rich man to find heaven.
etc. etc. There's one in every religion.
Anyway it's super true. You reach an ultimate state of happiness through pure and intense suffering, its just the way it is. I missed the original post, but I'm sure this very real suffering experienced by the original poster had the potential to give him a glimpse of the ultimate truth, of enlightenment.
