So I had a female "friend" tell me that I had mommy issues because I didn't want to date her friend. I didn't want to date her friend because she physically reminded me of my mother. I mean she looked like a younger version of my mother. Now that's not bad thing, my mom is a wonderful woman and not unattractive. I just find it weird to date a woman who looks like my mother. Is that not normal?

Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.

This is interesting I can't even date a woman with the same first name as my mother because it weirds me out, let alone one who looks like her!

Your friend was just annoyed you rejected her friend.

Yep.

Any kind of sweeping statement like that is really just a shaming tool/device.

They hope you'll 'prove' them wrong by doing what they 'want' you do to.

Don't read anything into it, I'm sure she didn't put very much thought into it.

The hardest thing for most humans to do is say something like this:

"Even though your opinion is different than I'd like it to be, and even though I disagree with it, I respect it as your opinion and we'll just leave it at that."

It's much easier to say:

"You're Wrong! You are wrong because of X!"

Where X is the first simple to understand idea that pops into their head.
