It's beyond my understanding whats to celebrate when you get older than 25.
The good reason to celebrate your 40 or your 50 with parties, travel and such is simply not to think too much about it.

the reason idiots keep dropping $1000 on a new iphone every year is that apple messes with the battery. the phone is programmed to die within a couple of years.Apple has been producing exactly the same products in different colours ,shapes and sizes for the last 15 years why do people keep buying them ?

What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.
You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.

The "social norms" just kind of get you in their,a bit boring and trite yes,but if you soon move things on,there is no harm done. if you go in to wacky or weird right from the off,people will think you a bit odd..which is not good either.
