how to stop sent email. help FAST!!!!!

I hit the replay button instead of forward and wrote something "uprofesional".......anyway to stop the email (i'm using outlook)


PLESEEE HELP!!!!!

i know there is a way, because i remember once hearing an intro on local tv station about it....but i changed the channel before i found out how.....

Recall or replace a message you've already sent

This feature requires you to be using a Microsoft Exchange Server e-mail account.

You can recall or replace a message only if its recipient is logged on and using Microsoft Outlook and has not read the message or moved it from their Inbox.

In Mail, in the Navigation Pane (Navigation Pane: The column on the left side of the Outlook window that includes panes such as Shortcuts or Mail and the shortcuts or folders within each pane. Click a folder to show the items in the folder.), click Sent Items.
Open the message you want to recall or replace.
In the message window, on the Actions menu, click Recall This Message.
Note This command does not appear unless you are using an Exchange e-mail account.

Do one of the following:
Recall the message

Click Delete unread copies of this message.
To be notified about the success of the recall or replacement for each recipient, select the Tell me if recall succeeds or fails for each recipient check box.
Replace the message

Click Delete unread copies and replace with a new message.

To be notified about the success of the recall or replacement for each recipient, select the Tell me if recall succeeds or fails for each recipient check box.

Click OK, and then type a new message.

Note To replace a message, you must send a new one. If you do not send the new item (item: An item is the basic element that holds information in Outlook (similar to a file in other programs). Items include e-mail messages, appointments, contacts, tasks, journal entries, notes, posted items, and documents.), the original message is still recalled.




lets just hope he hasn't read it already.

You could send about 5-10 emails with the exact same subject line, but different content. There's a possibility he might think you've sent the same message multiple times and just read the top one or two and delete the rest (including the dodgy one) without reading them.

I got asked to come to an "user meeting" for this company that provides "drafting software" for us.....after the meeting there is going to be a lunch provided. Well instead of hitting "forward", i hit "reply"...
and wrote; "free lunch????". what i ment to do is forward it to my boss, and try and convince him to send me (which is why i wrote "free lunch???". as in, can i go???)...

so now i look like an idiot in front of the software dealer, and he'll be thinking that i'm just in for a free lunch.

arrrrr, so embarasing!!!!!!!

i'll be even worse when i see him (it's this wednesday)

Dude...don't sweat it. Embarrassing? Sure. Nothing to die about.

I heard that once a sent email has been read...you won't be able to retrieve it.

If you send that email (as a forward or reply) then my understanding is that you won't be able to retrieve it either, because you are not the original sender (I tried to retrieve one as a reply to my girlfriend the other day and it was impossible).

But I'm not sure. All I can say is...hey, "embarrassing"...but not career ending. Don't sweat it. You win nothing with it.

Wrong, you CAN recall an email sent using Outlook. Absolutely. I don't know how, but I've seen it done many times...

Reply to someone...and then recall that email.

Or wait for somebody to read the email first and then try to recall it.

Jeez, don't sweat "Free Lunch???". In fact, I do that sort of thing all the time. You are a customer of theirs, and they know the "game". They will probably get a good laugh, maybe even reply with a "Yep, come on down." It's like a C&F thing.

Go ahead and be unprofessional in this day and age. When my vendors come in and ask me to attend their seminars and conferences I ask them:

V: "Are there going to be a bunch of hot chicks there?"
vendor: "HAHAH! I don't know."
V: "Well then... Hmmm... I donno..."
vendor: "There's going to be free lunch, though."

Bottom line: Don't sweat it. What are they going to do? Fire you? Jobs are like women: there are buh-zillions of them and they don't always last.
