Say you've been seeing this girl, or talking to her or whatever and things SEEM like they're going fine. She seems to have interest, etc. Then all of a sudden out of nowhere she ends up in a relationship with some other dude you had no clue about. She didn't give you any reason to think you were competing with someone else (if I knew this I wouldn't even bother) and she shows all the signs of being interested in you. This has been happening to me off and on for years and I've always felt like an idiot afterwards. The funny thing is most of the time these guys they jump into relationships with out of nowhere never seem to last longer then a month or two if that.

What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.
You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.

Not much you can do about that. I've had it happen to me. Girls are selfish and will date 2,3,4 guys at once until they decide which one suits them best, then drop the others or downgrade them to orbit land. But then you drop her and refuse to be an orbiter.
