Act towards them in a positive way and treat them with respect. Managers are people too and they tend to mirror other's behaviour. If you make them feel good by working hard and being positive towards them, they will also treat you the same. Whenever you come across managers whom you find distasteful, at least try to understand where they are coming from. Rather than wonder how you should behave around them, make a learning experience out of it.
