"She Wants a Man, Not a Boy"

You asked her if she wanted to grab coffee. Then you asked if the time worked. Then you asked if the place was okay. Then you asked if she'd prefer tea.

Four questions. Four chances for her to say no. Four signals that you're terrified of making a decision.

Plan it. Pick the place. Pick the time. Tell her where to meet you. She'll either show up or she won't.

Either way, you look like a man instead of a scared little boy.

The reason I ask this is because I've never really paid a whole lot of attention to what I wear. That's not to say I don't try to dress well and look nice, but I've never really put much thought into the clothing that I wear. While reading some of the 'self-improvement' threads, I saw plenty of fashion advice.

Now, what I wear goes against much of the advice I saw here. I don't wear jeans or polo-shirts because I find them to be uncomfortable. I am a huge White Sox fan (Major League baseball team) so after they won the World Series last year every day I would come to school wearing a different White Sox shirt. There were plenty of people who commented on me only wearing one type of shirt but I either ignored them or told them to go to hell if they said they didn't like it.

On a final note, I was surprised by the "don't show your socks" advice - is it really that big of a deal? I find the ankle socks to be horribly uncomfortable compared to the longer socks. Also, I've never thought of socks as being even remotely important to fashion as long as they weren't too long or too noticeable.

My question is, how important is fashion to you and am I wrong for having a "I don't give a ****" type attitude towards it? I don't really need to build up confidence through my clothing because I'm comfortable in the way I look and the clothes I wear.

"The Coffee Shop Girl You Never Spoke To"

You've replayed it a hundred times. She stood three feet away, scrolling her phone. You had an opening. You composed the perfect line — after she was gone.

For all you know, she's married now. To some guy who said something. Anything.

Openers are cheap. Almost any sentence works when it's delivered within three seconds. The expensive part is the standing there, drafting and deleting, while the window quietly closes.

The "22 Rules" stripped out my hesitation. What to open with, how to keep it alive, and the one habit that costs guys more women than anything else: waiting for perfect.

I haven't found fashion very important. It really has the same effect as looks, but fashion is something you can improve. My advice, dont wear the same shirt every day. I personally don't like ankle socks either, you don't need to wear them.
To put it in terms of this website: fashion won't stop or enable you to date a girl, but you will start off with a slightly higher interest level with a good fashion sense.

Ankle socks suck balls. I found some Adidas low cuts that fit comfortably--any other brand than that is terrible.

If polo shirts and jeans aren't your thing, wearing khakis on a regular basis with track/sweat pants here and there isn't such a bad thing (or at least at my school it isn't..khakis are much more comfortable than jeans). I like wearing sports apparel too, I do that a lot, but mix it up a little. I'm sure you like more sports than baseball and more teams than the South Siders.

Also, being from Michigan, I have one more thing to say.

I didn't say that I wore the same shirt everyday, more or less the same "type" of shirt (every shirt had White Sox stuff on it). Though if there is something I would change about my clothing, it would be to widen the variety of my wardrobe. I have received multiple comments about the shirts I wear everyday being too similar.

I do wear khakis on a regular basis, and you are right that I need to mix it up a little. I may like to watch White Sox games, but I actually hate playing baseball itself. The only problem now is that about 50% of my wardrobe is White Sox related, I need to buy more variety.

As for the Tigers, just wait until they have to face the Sox again.;)

"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.

FASHION, meaning what's in and what's not nowadays is less important than finding a style you feel and look good in.

Find your style of clothing, put on some GREAT clothes, look at yourself, then look at yourself with clothes looking like Salvation Army. Feel the difference.

No substitute for good clothe.s

haha theres actually people our age that dont wear ankle socks? like maybe if its cold out and im wearing long pants i'll wear regulars, but other than that im always in ankles. and i find them way more comfy than the regulars.

anyway, mrs made a good point. its not as much "fashion" as it is "style". you dont want to be one of those pathetic, probably in the closet guys who buys a whole new wardrobe every year. get a style that works for you and keep it. it may not necessarily be the polo jeans khaki etc look that alot of people on here like (including me) but its gotta look good.

"You'll Never Feel READY to Walk Over"

Next Monday you'll feel more confident. After the gym you'll feel more confident. After one more drink you'll feel more confident. After you get a better haircut, a better jacket, a better job.

You've been "getting ready" for two years.

She's standing ten feet away right now. She'll be gone in four minutes. No amount of preparation will manufacture the courage that only comes from moving your feet.

Walk over. Stumble through the first sentence. Let it be clumsy. Let it be imperfect. You will feel more alive in those ten seconds than you have all month.

LMAO I look like a f*cking chump? Every girl that has seen the way I dress these days sits there and tells me how f*cking sexy it is. Girls love this sh*t bro. I've got girls who have that picture saved on their desktop background. I've got girls sitting there telling that they wished more guys dressed like me.

Get over it bro. I got style.

Lets be honest..... if you had style, not saying you don't... you wouldn't care what any random shmuck had to say and supplicate yourself to him through details of what some girl did.

I do have style, and I'm a very arguementative person. If you cut me down, I will defend myself, but thats off the topic.

You should definitely focus on your style. The more clean cut you are, and the more you seperate yourselves from every other guy, the better off you'll be.

Here us just something you could do to improve on that look bro. If you had style you wouldn't tuck that shirt in, you'd roll up the sleeves or at least roll the cuffs back, you'd get a belt that looked good with your outfit, and you'd prolly unbutton the second button from the top as well, and wear a nice watch, oh yeah... Might wanna wear an undershirt with that.. Your skin shows through the cloth since the design has slight stripes in it.

I can tell you don't really dress liek that on a regular basis... I've learned to deal with that look since our school makes us dress almost exactly that way for school (we have to wear uniforms here in the Philippines)... But just because we have to wear uniforms, doesn't mean that I can't have the best look.. Leather jacket with that style looks pretty damn cool too man.

I've got an almost exact white shirt for school, but imported from Japan, so the top button area near the collar is straight cut.. It looks pretty good with a fair of faded Jeans from Hollister and a little neclace...

"How I Made Sure No Woman Ever Friend-Zoned Me Again"

She calls you when her car breaks down. When she needs help moving. When some guy she's actually dating treats her badly.

You're the listener. The reliable one. The guy who would treat her so much better, if she'd just open her eyes.

She won't. You trained her to see you as the low-effort option — the friend who requires zero risk and zero investment. Every favor dug the hole deeper.

The "22 Rules" break the pattern. You'll stop auditioning for a role she already cast and become the man she chases instead. It starts with Rule 1.

To be honest with you, I do dress like that on a regular basis. I have a few pairs of dress pants, some dress shoes. Most of my shirts are black, although I've got a baby blue, maroon and a purple one. This was a quick picture. I do normally wear undershirts due to the fact that you can see my skin through that shirt. Also, I like the tucked in look. When my shirts are untucked they hang too low for my tastes. I'll admit though, I could use a better looking belt.

I'll have to take some pictures of the rest of my slowly growing dressy wardrop for you guys as soon as I get some new batteries for the camera.

Hey bro.. Good stuff.. Hey thanks for not being like a lot of guys on here, that when you try to give them advice they take offense and get pissed off..

Since my school makes us wear uniforms, sometimes I get tired of wearing them so I make some changes.. like wear a jacket over it or whatever..

As you can see, a couple of the pics are of me in school uniform.. lol

But yeah, mess around with your style.. I wish I could get my ear pierced like you.. But my school/parents won't allow it.. So I can't...

Staz, you are way too big headed, way too stressed out.
Cowhead, while khakis can look cool, jeans look good with pretty much everything.
Neonbase, bright red top, beige trousers? That top has bits of grey on it. Wear black jeans with it.

It appears that some people here arent gettin sh*t. Youre here to help each other, stop trying to take people down so you can feel better about yourselves. Staz is doing his own thing, so be it. Youre not one to tell him hes big headed. Dont be jealous.

Not a big fan of black jeans bro, so I don't own a pair... I usually wear jeans and all white K-Swiss Classics because they go well with anything.. Even red... lol

"She Made Her Decision Before You Finished Your Sentence"

Three seconds. That's how long it took. Your shoes. Your posture. The way you held your drink. Whether you looked at the floor or looked at her.

She already filed you away. Interesting. Boring. Safe. Bold. Before you even opened your mouth.

Everything you say after that is just her confirming what she already decided.

So stop rehearsing lines. Fix the first three seconds. Stand tall. Look up. Smile like you mean it. Walk like you belong wherever you're standing.

The words come later. The impression comes first.
