How long should you talk to a girl on IM before asking her out

OK so yesterday I got this girl's IM handle off some dating site and chatted with her a bit, talked about myself a bit, send her my pic and made her talk about her, nothing out of the ordinary happened in the convo, but overall she was friendly and it seems to have went well enough. Now I just wonder how soon I should propose a real date to her, say, to some restaurant or some ****.

Asking too soon I guess could make her feel uncomfortable as she's never seen me face to face and barely knows me, and lingering too much online could make her view me as nothing but a chicken **** too shy to do moves on a lady...

I know that she's most inevitably expecting this, but wouldn't it have sounded somewhat desperate (which I'm not) to rush and propose a date to a girl you're interacting with for the very first time, through an online mean at that?

Just be friendly and brief about it and it won't come across as creepy or desperate.

She's not just waiting for you to do the move? It sounds hard to trigger such vibes through mundane online text exchanges. Plus she doesn't have a lot of stuff to pick up about you to decide whether she's willing to take things further or not. By going out and meeting up for real, that's what we're aiming to figure out.

Anyhow I may well chat with her briefly about random things the next time she shows up online, and then propose the date.

It's simple, are your conversations fun? is she laughing at your jokes or seem interested in the things you say? does she initiate the msn 50% of the time? If she does, you're in. Get her to go out, and do it fast.

rule of thumb, 3-7 dates, you're set. if you're more conservative, 12. if you just want to bang and leave, 1-2. that's it.

Yes the conversations were fun and she seemed pretty interested in the things I said, she used a lot of sweet animated emoticons too (not offered by default in the IM program), but we've only talked one time so far, for about 50 minutes or so. Would it still be a good idea to ask her out next time?

Maybe it's a good thing to take things offline pretty fast.

dude... think of asking her out as... just chilling out with her. don't put her as your wife already. when time comes, just ask her out, hang out and chill. don't act all desperate or anything... just stay cool and then let her think about you.

If she's fun, she'll hang out with you some more. if not, she wouldn't give a rats ass about you. she'd already next you.
