Nice to see another cyclist in the forum. I've always felt that using exercise as a diversion was the best way to relieve stress and make you more fit at the same time. It definitely has a different outcome than just boozing it up.

What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.
You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.

Stress is good for you - it shows you're working hard, and that you're human. But a lot of people deal with it badly.
By the way, these tips are useful for picking up women too, since they teach you how to deal with rejection, too. In fact, if you can deal well with stress, you can deal well with any negative emotion.
Important things to do:
Take the time to ask yourself why you're stressed.
Get in touch with nature by taking a walk or something. Fresh air relieves stress naturally.
Meditate/Pray, whichever is your persuasion.
Distract yourself by accomplishing some relaxing goal like playing a game or an instrument.
Take a shower.
Create a plan to eliminate stress in the future. For me, that plan involves getting women. Wish me luck haha,

If I'm stressed - meditation
When I'm FED UP WITH ALL OF IT - go for a LONG walk, or just about anything that involves using a lot of energy and agressivity. I think the perfect thing would be a martial art sparring with a friend.
What I don't do is to talk to any female friends I hate not having full control over myself >_<
