"The Coffee Shop Girl You Never Spoke To"

You've replayed it a hundred times. She stood three feet away, scrolling her phone. You had an opening. You composed the perfect line — after she was gone.

For all you know, she's married now. To some guy who said something. Anything.

Openers are cheap. Almost any sentence works when it's delivered within three seconds. The expensive part is the standing there, drafting and deleting, while the window quietly closes.

The "22 Rules" stripped out my hesitation. What to open with, how to keep it alive, and the one habit that costs guys more women than anything else: waiting for perfect.

Okay, so everyone has their own approach on calling a girl after they get her digits. I'd like to hear everyone's take on this.

Suppose you score a girl's number on Friday night. Let's assume you think she is somewhat interested in you.

What day do you call?
What do you do if she doesn't answer? (Try again later or leave a message?)
If you leave a message what do you say?
How many times will you try before you give up?

"She Made Her Decision Before You Finished Your Sentence"

Three seconds. That's how long it took. Your shoes. Your posture. The way you held your drink. Whether you looked at the floor or looked at her.

She already filed you away. Interesting. Boring. Safe. Bold. Before you even opened your mouth.

Everything you say after that is just her confirming what she already decided.

So stop rehearsing lines. Fix the first three seconds. Stand tall. Look up. Smile like you mean it. Walk like you belong wherever you're standing.

The words come later. The impression comes first.

Why do you guys even get her number if it's going to cause this much mental anguish?

I got a girls number on friday (sept 15) and i still havent called her. I'll probably do it on monday. I think if you hold back and let her wonder why u havent called her she'll like u more, because every other guy will call her within 2 days. Some people might say that she will lose interest or forget who you are if u wait this long. But i say this, i havent forgotten about her and u cant forget someone if u have high interst in them. Would u forget about someone like Pamela Anderson in 10 days, no. I just think its better and safer doing it this way.

"Nervous Around Beautiful Women? There's a Rule for That"

I could talk to any woman I wasn't attracted to. Charming, funny, relaxed. Then a gorgeous woman looked my way and I'd become a sweating, babbling mess.

The fix took me years to find and ten minutes to learn. Nervousness and excitement are the same physical state — pounding heart, adrenaline, flushed face. Your brain just picks the label. And you can pick a better one.

Rule 16 shows you how. You feel the nerves, relabel them as excitement, and let that energy pour out as enthusiasm. Women notice the guy radiating it. They always do.

In other words, not calling is the best way to avoid rejection...

Ah, but clueless guys need rules (and I've been there.)

Wait at least two days, and don't call on a Friday or Saturday night.

You can leave a message the second time you call her, and then give up. There's no point calling again after that.

Just a simple "this is x call me back" message is best, though if you know this girl's circle of friends, it would be hillarious to say

"You know, Jenn and I were talking about you, and, I was just wanting to see if this is true, she said that - (click!)"

Oh, and waiting a while might raise her interest a tad (If she's already into you), but the real reason to wait is to test her interest.

I'm guessing you're inexperienced, and have little idea if this chick likes you. Well, if you call her tonight, and she doesn't remember who you are, there's your anwer.

But, dude, it's been almost half a month. Call her now.

i met a girl on Friday (Sep 15), and got her phone number. My plan was to wait until Sunday night to call her but she texted me on Sunday morning. We exchanged a couple of texts. On Wednesday night I called her and asked her out and she said 'yes'. This Thursday we went on a date.

What i would have done if she didn't answer my call would be to leave a message. Then if she didn't return my call i would have waited a week and call again and then possibly give up if she didn't return that call. Only if i was very interested i would try one more time, but after 3 not retrurned phone calls i would definitely give up and say 'Next'. Of course in my case that wasn't necessary but those are my rules.

"Stop Asking Your Friends What to Text Her"

Your buddy Dave has been single for three years and thinks "hey u up" is a valid strategy. Your other buddy Mike just got dumped and told you to "just be yourself."

You showed them her text. You asked them to decode the emoji. You drafted four responses and sent the screenshot to the group chat for a vote.

She's been waiting forty minutes.

Put the phone down. Stop crowdsourcing your love life. Type something that sounds like you. Hit send. Then go do literally anything else with your evening.
