This is the main thing, IMO. There are certain things you can and can't do with women, not all of which are intuitive. At our age the best we can do is just make the best of what we've got. If you're feeling fugly by todays standards get a makeover, work out, get some better clothes, and yes getting your head wrapped some better game with women will at least make your chances better. Just don't think you can read a bunch of books on the subject and it will make up for your aesthetic shortcomings, you have to work on everything to have a well rounded game for women.
Just remember at your age it's not over and you have a lot more to do.
