"She's Out of Your League"

You've said it a hundred times. Maybe a thousand. And every time you say it, you train your brain to freeze the next time she walks into the room.

Leagues are a myth invented by guys who are scared of women.

She's a person. She has bad breath in the morning. She picks songs she can't sing in the shower. She overthinks her own texts.

Walk over. Say something. The league dissolves the second you open your mouth.

I got the number of this hot chick (early 30's) at my gym that I've talked to off and on for a while now. We chatted, I teased her a bit, cracked a few jokes, and then said I wanted to get her number so we could have coffee. I got it and then immediately split (happened this Wednesday). I was going to call her on Sunday night to say "hey" and set something up for a mid-week drink BUT...

I also landed (2) awesome seats to the Colorado Rockies vs. New York Yankees ($130 worth) here in Denver for next week and really want to take her. She's been in the states for a few years and is from Croatia--my guess is she's never been to a major event like that before. I also know her ex-boyfriend and he's definitely not the sporto type.

Is this too much too soon because we haven't even had a "real" get-to-know-each-other-type date yet

OR

Would this be something that would be super cool because it's unusual and has all the "fun" elements like people, buzz, noise, excitement, drama (the game), etc. I would also not tell her exactly what we're doing, but tell her how to dress, when to be ready, etc., just to toy with her a bit

DJ thoughts please.

"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.

Take her. Call her up, let her know you got tickets a few weeks ago and one of your friends bailed. If she bails too, then go ahead and really invite one of your friends.

Take her BUT..........

Don't try too hard to impress her at the game.. Infact, let her try to impress you.. You've already DHV by bringing her to this game. Don't mention ticket costs.. And FORCE HER to Qualify herself to you once you are at the game.. it's a great time to build LOTS of comfort..

Use the old but time tested "I think you're sexy but I want to know what there is to you beyond your looks. Tell me something interesting about yourself"

Remember, you're the prize, the king, act like one.

Good call, Charm. I like it. I pretty much can't stand "standard" dates anyway--good oppt'y to sharpen the DJ skills, etc. as we'll be together for at least 4-5 hours. PLUS, I'll be pretty engrossed in the game.

Any other DJ thoughts appreciated.

"She Laughed All Night. Then She Ghosted You. Here's Why."

Dinner ran three hours. She laughed at everything. You walked her to her car thinking this one's locked in.

Then: nothing. Two texts. No reply. What happened?

You did what most men do on a great date. You filled every silence, answered every question, and left her with nothing to wonder about. No mystery. Nothing to sit with when she got home.

Rule 3 of the "22 Rules" changes the ending: tell her a little, hold back the rest, and let her imagination do the chasing. The ghosting stops too.

UPDATE:

I called, chatted, hit her with some C&F, told her I had tickets to *something* and wanted her to join me. She said "sure."

Funny thing is this girl is kind of my opposite; into saving the world, a Taosit, always bikes, no car. I'm more the weightlifting, NFL, UFC-watching, risk-taking (business and $$) kind of dude. Should be interesting. If opposites do attract we’ll be locked at the hips.

I was in a LTR, took a few months off, and now am out again. Trying to get the "game" back and sharpen up after a year or so off.

Is there a "first date" short list on this site somewhere? Something like Top 7 Things to Remember When on a First Date with a Hot Chick...or am I going to have to go from memory?

Any links appreciated.

DJ's are ALWAYS trying to get better at what they do...ALWAYS.

probably would be better to do coffee first, and if that goes well then go to the game. when is the game; is there not enough time to do both?

Obsidian,

Game is this Wednesday. Yeah, 95% of the time coffee/drinks first would be great but this is a HUGE event here in Colorado so it happening Wednesday night, only. I really wanted to take her because it's going to be a very wild, fun, exciting time and a lot of our conversation can revolve around the game, the stadium, etc. Almost more of an un-date. Her ex-husband is a real granola, hippie, Tao-like guy--and I'm more well, my sports favorites are Brain Urlacher, Ken Shamrock, and Chuck Liddel. So I'm going to be night and day compared to what she had.

It's kind of like going long on 1st and 10; we'll find out how compatible we are right away. Either way we'll have fun--plus she's secondary next to the actually game. [GO ROCKIES!]

I do need to brush up a bit on first date game -- any good links/pages you'd recommend?

First date game is simple. Use regular kino action, touch on the knee, brush of her hair...

Lean in to smell her and be bold about it. Tell her you like her choice of perfume. Ask her about her goals, interests, challenges, wishes, etc. Keep things light and fun, tell stories, etc.

"Why Women Dump the Guys Who Try the Hardest"

You paid for dinner. You drove. You said "whatever you want is fine" every single time. All the effort, no expectations.

And she left anyway — probably for a guy who makes her pick up the pizza.

Painful. Also predictable. Her mind quietly concludes that anything requiring zero effort from her is worth exactly zero. You became a free sample, and free samples get taken for granted.

The 22 Rules flip the dynamic. Small shifts that get her investing effort, money, and time in you — until SHE'S the one afraid of losing YOU.
