As a human being you are given a BODY. Your body in order to serve you well MUST BE MAINTAINED and DEVELOPED.

This is not a waste of time, rather a necessity.

The vast majority of guys at regular commercial gyms are just training in a (usually failed) attempt to get laid more, but some guys are more serious about actually getting strong. I'm in the latter group. There's a huge difference between training to look pretty at the beach vs. training to be able to move heavy **** around. If I only cared about looks I would just do curls + bench like most of the bros at commercial gyms.

Every person who walks into a gym trains for vanity in a way, everyone does it to a certain degree if you say not, you're full of **** or look like ****. Strength can be your goal, yet c'mon what guy wouldn't want to look great from all angles when he takes off his shirt and jeans?

Hate when people point out bodybuilders for trying to get bigger and look better as if others are not doing things to themselves out of vanity.

I go to the gym because I want to have sound sleep at night, more energy, and improved focus when studying... It helps with everything in my life. I don't really see any disadvantage to hitting the gym.

I just got back from a club in which at least 3/4 of the dudes looked like they walked out of the set of the Jersey Shore. A bunch of Italian/Balkan/Persian looking dudes with short hair, muscles, and affliction shirts. I recall being there in 2005 when you'd see more "normal" guys. All these guys are just conforming to the current masculine ideal fuelled by the media - this look is "in" right now, and they're having their day in the sun.

Meanwhile the guys developing the innovations propelling society forward are sitting in in a dry spell more barren than the Sahara.

I recall meeting a Chinese girl who'd been serious with a guy for several years. She boasted that he'd won a number of math and architectural awards in numerous competitions. She didn't care how tall he was, how big is biceps were, how many friends he had, how many other hot girls were after him. It was the basis of his achievements that drove her attraction - achievements that had a tangible net *positive* effect on society.

Now imagine if more girls were like this. Think of how fundamentally fvcked up a society is that idolizes a guy tossing a football and scorns than a "nerd" developing the latest fuel cell technology to reduce our oil dependence. Who is doing more for empowering society? Who gets rewarded with more pvssy?

Can you imagine if Western media venerated nerds rather than scorning them? Can you imagine if sheep-like women whose desires are always influenced by media and preselection were "influenced" to believe THIS to be attractive?

Can you imagine if being academically fit (and not physically fit) correlated more with hot pvssy? We'd have cured cancer and have colonies in Mars and beyond by now. Guys would be hitting the books instead of hitting the gym. All our problems would be solved.

Also for what its worth, many of the smartest guys I know ALSO go to the effort to work out and stay in shape too. Thats because they are smart enough to know what things are important in life, and being healthy is definitely one of them.

So I completely disagree, you seem to think the only gym goers are stupid morons with nothing else in their lives. You are wrong.

Also, going to the gym doesn't take up enough time to prevent you contributing to society in other ways. That I can work in an investment bank in the day, spend my evenings learning Japanese and Korean (when I'm not socialising with friends) and yet still have time to keep in shape .... well, it seems I'm just better at life than you.

This game is like any other game, you do your best to the fullest of your extent and you use any knowledge and advantages you can get your hands on. It's to make up for the lack of other qualities in most guy's cases... Guys don't have very good social abilities, so they want to get big and muscular to compensate. Completely unneccessary, don't force yourself to go if you don't enjoy it, because it's not needed to get women...

Researchers checked the neurons of people who don't study that much or think hard that much and compare them to the neurons of those who continue doing challenging mental work. The results are the neurons of those who don't study or read that much are in much worse condition and they are more likely to develop neuron related diseases such as Alzheimer's.

I'm all for working out and developing your own body, but what I don't get it why more people shun developing their mind but are more open to developing heir mind.

If you choose to go the gym, you are not wasting a whole day. You spend 2-3 hours there, max. Then you have 21 hour left in the day to do whatever you want. That includes reading books, enlightening yourself, whatever.

I say as long as you don't have a gut, you should be fine. Skinny beats chubby/obese every time, and since statistics show that most men and women are overweight/obese, being skinny should be fine.

I know a guy that works at a computer store who looks as though he has no bone structure. I saw him somewhere else one day and he had a girlfriend who was an 8 (redhead) and was almost taller than him.

I just don't think it matters that much. And you know what? Alot of these meathead gym rats are always working out because they need to compensate for being ugly. Women respond foremost to social status. Social status is governed by the values of said society.

The Chinese girl I mentioned was reared in a culture that emphasized scholastic achievement as the paragon of male attractiveness. In Asian schools, it's not the football jocks that have the highest status - it's the scholars, the high-achievers, the "nerds". Inculcated with these values, she's conditioned to be attracted to these men - because THESE are the guys with the most social status.

Why should the ability to toss a football or put a ball through a hoop get the gina tingling than, say, scoring in the top 5% of the Math Olympiad? Neither act is inherently more "alpha". It's the social status in relation to these activities that the women respond to. Which is viewed with more respect in the US? Which in Asia?

Around my campus I see a lot of nerdy-looking smart FOB Asian guys with cute girlfriends. The equivalent nerdy white guy is at home alone wacking off to porn - his women have been conditioned to view him as low value, not worth showing off to friends.
