$350,000 budget for a house anywhere in Cali means you are either A) Buying a fixer that needs major work, or B) living in a gang-infested sh-thole.

I think you better up your budget a bit.

You can check zillow.com to get a general idea of what homes are going for in a given neighborhood. But still, $350,000 sounds pretty unrealistic for the Bay Area. Good luck.

I dont think you live in Cali...i live small town area...full of trailer trash, 30 year old high school "jocks" still living in the past, and panhandlers...

Imagine that town from that movie "Just Friends" with Ryan Reynolds and Amy Smart. Thats How crappy my town is.

But there are still nice areas and real estate has dropped tremendously in the last year...what was $700,000 2 story 5 bd/3 bath built in 2005 is now about $350,000.

I was thinking about this,

Since the economy is so crappy would buying a house NOW be a good thing? I thought it was bad to buy a house now. I am not looking in selling either once I buy the house.

Not for investors, buy low...economy goes back up then sell high.

If your talking about job risk, theres no worry...parents have their own business.

What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.

You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.
