Why "Whatever You Want" Keeps You Single

She says the movie looks dumb; you suddenly agree. She tests you with a little attitude; you apologize for nothing.

You think you're being easy to get along with. She reads something else entirely: a man with no edges. Nothing to hold on to. No friction, no tension, no reason to wonder what he really thinks.

The "22 Rules" taught me to push back — playfully, calmly, without needing her approval. Strange things happened after that.

Just texted this girl who I had a first date with Thursday (see thread)

Me:Hey [name], hope you made that test your b!tch! I had a great time with you Thursday - you're very pleasant to talk to. Are you free for dinner tomorrow evening?
Girl: Sure I like talking to you too as friends that'd be really cool :)

God damn it. She sent it 15 minutes ago, 3 minutes after my text and I have yet to reply. I didn't escalate as much as I should have on my first date but I certainly didn't expect her to pull the "Let's just be friends" card just yet.

Can I say anything to turn this around?

"She Laughed All Night. Then She Ghosted You. Here's Why."

Dinner ran three hours. She laughed at everything. You walked her to her car thinking this one's locked in.

Then: nothing. Two texts. No reply. What happened?

You did what most men do on a great date. You filled every silence, answered every question, and left her with nothing to wonder about. No mystery. Nothing to sit with when she got home.

Rule 3 of the "22 Rules" changes the ending: tell her a little, hold back the rest, and let her imagination do the chasing. The ghosting stops too.

I read your other thread and what you said to her here in your text and honestly man.....you don't seem aggressive enough.

You kiss her on the cheek
You ask her permission to walk her to her door

and the "hope you made that test your b!tch!" remark...(oh geeez)....that sounded like something a gay guy would say.

You're not coming off as STRONG,MASCULINE,as TAKE-CHARGE.

Her "as friends" comment seems to suggest she's attempting to change your "date" into "friends hanging out",which of course,YOU'LL LIKELY BE paying for.

So if she wants the 2nd date to be "as friends",you might wanna go back and do an autopsy on the first date to see where and WHAT mistakes you made.

Far as how to turn this situation around,hey....YOU KNOW once you get friendzoned, there's no going back. Guess you can go out and try to be more aggressive on the date, but if she reinterates that she just wants to go out as friends, not much else you can really do.

If it were me,I'd probably cancel the date. I'd tell her that I'm looking for a bit more than "just friends",and since we're looking for two different things,it'd probably be best just to go on our separate ways.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Yes, I finked it up by not being aggressive enough on the first date. I ended up texting her an hour and a half ago asking if 7:30 works and she hasn't replied but hey, I set the precedent by not replying for 4 and a half hours. If she replies that yes, it works for her I'm going to say "cool, come pick me up at my house, the address is [address], call me if you need directions".

If we're going to be "talking as friends" then she shouldn't mind picking me up right? It forces her to invest a little bit more. And if she agrees to pick me up and shows up, would it hurt to kiss her right at my door? I figure she'll do one of two things. She'll either leave in a huff or love it and continue on the date where I'll be applying LOTS of kino, having her beg for more. And if the date continues, you best believe I'll transform myself into a Dutchman when the bill comes and only pay my half of the dinner.
