The 1999 mentality still has merit to it in 2022. Why would a top quality woman go on a dating app? She does usually have enough options in the real world. Tinder/Hinge/Bumble is for validation. The Instagram DMs are even an uphill battle too but slightly better.
Yes, this is exactly what's going on. I've even seen some of this attitude permeate into the real world. I, as a 7, have a 4.5-5.5 ranking women reject me.

the competition is not as tough as people think , and women usually are quite opened to being cold approached
there are a lot of promoters who are cold approaching left and right . Women are quite opened talking with them while guys usually are the ones who give the coldest rejection . I think that the problem in terms of cold approach is that wr think what us a guy would do in such situation , not what a woman would do
and most of the promoters are not even good looking and yet women are quite ok talking with them ( even for a couple of seconds )
