Good mid-section exercises after hernia?

I recently dropped 22lbs working out and eating strictly vegetables fruit and lean mean. I was in a zone for the past two months. I still have another 15lbs I want to lose. Unfortunately due to my intensity I blew out my stomach doing exercises and had to get a hernia operation. Now taking it easy for six weeks won't be a problem. I can still do cardio to keep the weight off. However all my muscle gains will disappear.
Has anyone gotten a stomach hernia? What type of exercises can you do to tone the mid-section after surgery?:rock:

I was doing ab crunches at the gym and ended up having bilateral inguinal surgery as a result. Mesh and plugs for me as well.

NO FUN!

Follow the docs advice, and when you start training again, don't train quite so hard.

On a funny note, after my surgery, my egg bag swelled up to the size of a softball and turned dark purple as well as my d!ck. I was wearing flannel pants. My then wife was in the kitchen so I dropped my pants and said "hey honey, what do you think of this"? She took one look at my stuff and went pale. The look on her face was priceless! It was like carrying around a bowling ball between my legs until the swelling went down.

Mine was a ventral hernia. It is healing well according to doctor. I will be able to jog in about ten days. Nothing over 15lbs is to be lifted for the next six weeks however.
5string I got mine the same way. Doing the crunch machine in the gym. Did a rep and felt a bulge immediately at the top of my stomach.
