Thats because alot of girls might not be so interested in those things as you are. My strong point with women is the conversation. Always let them talk. Girls like talking. So let her talk and then just attach some witty remarks or maybe if you have personal experience with what she is saying, weave that in. Always be light and a little funny. If convo is running out, make a humorous observation about something/someone around you. Ask her how she feels about a particular issue that is in the news lately. Talk about favorite TV shows or movies. Tell her a joke. Get her to tell you a joke.

All the advise mentioned above are great. But when you start a converstation with a girl -- you want more out of it then a mere conversation, right? You want -- at least -- a friendship as an outcome?
You need to have friends who like you for you. I am sure girls have many common interests are you have and visa versa. You might even introduce an interestic topic she never considered or... visa vera.
My point is don't build relationships (yes.. friendships is another form of a relationship) on lies.
I.E. I am sure you do not like talking about politics nor your fellow classmates. But, sometimes, interesting events do occur. Which may strike your fancy -- so mention it.
You get my point.
Now to answer your question directly, based on the responses above -- you should also talk about shopping, hair, nails, clothing.... I think you get the idea....

YES, girls even masturbate. Trust me, i know (and no... i am not a girl).
Girls play video games, even. I went to party last year in the fall... we had some video games (we all played that, girls included), we all drank ourselves drunk -- to the point of lacking self control. Most of us, at least. A few were smart enough to not get too drunk to have function of certain organs.
We are all human. Just some have penis, others have vaginas... and some have both.
