X-Files was on, though I didn't start watching it until I caught re-runs on TNT a couple years ago. What surprises me is it doesn't look outdated at all except for the first few seasons.
Makes you wonder what the movie is going to be like.

I remember Depeche Mode every day.

120 minutes back when MTV only played music and the Real World.

If you boys were true lovers of beauty you would mention the fall of communism. If not for that little episode I might be wearing furry hats and acting gay. Besides that I would say that the 90's were one of the weaker decades to come along in a long time. The 80's? I could have made it in America in the 80's. The girls in America back then were superior to anything from the 90's. C'mon! Grunge? Those broads looked like lesbians out for a picnic.

DJ Bobo gets my vote for performer of the 90's. And yes, I have paid money to see him live.

The 80's belonged to the Brits. That was the last decade they were deserving of life on this planet.

Not an 80's tune but still a virtual classic from the Kings of the 80's - The Pet Shop Boys! For any of you who have had to leave a girlfriend in a country far far away this song is for you!

Wham!

The British were gay before gay was cool! Those were all great tunes though.

I love it when 20-somethings talk about the good old days.

I'm a 20-something myself and I can't help but think this conversation is retarded. Things change. Always have, always will. And thank god, because Boys II Men was gay as all ****ing hell.

Besides, I'm 24 years old, and I listen to music written before my father was born. And I like it, too. Quality is immortal.:D

I once listened to music before my father was born too, but that was a rebellious stage I got out of around 2000.

Let us not forget Super Metroid.

It was a great part of the early 90's and stands the test of time even today.

I've read on forums young gamers just getting it on the Wii Virtual Console and loving the hell out of it.

Its got my vote for greatest Metroid game ever created and I've played just about all of them the new ones included in that list.

For anyone nostalgic about Super NES the brand new Nintendo Wii has an online service called the Shop Channel where you can buy and download those old Super NES games directly to the console and play them using either a Gamecube controller if you own one or a classic controller built specifically for the Wii which greatly resembles the original Super NES controller in design.

I own both the classic controller and Super Metroid for the Virtual Console on Nintendo Wii and I cannot recommend both of these more to anyone interested in getting some retro gaming action going.

What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.

You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.

That was so good. I paid for that game with all the loose change i could find.

It came in a massive box with an instruction book the size of the new testament. My mate told me he completed it in 3hours and got to see Samus in a black bikini in beautiful 16bit glory! Never knew if it was true or not.

It's a shame to think some kids will never have played Super Metroid, Mario or even Super Mario Kart. Ghost Valley 1...so sweet!

Heh heh I remember the code fuzzx.

And you'll be happy to know Sega's old classics are represented on Nintendo Wii as well.

Meaning you can download their classic games for Genesis and play them on the Nintendo Wii console.

Hahaha you guys are all just experiencing the scarcity principle. Funny how even crap like blossom can seem appealing if you take it away.

I will agree thought that the quality of entertainment has reduced significantly. Just look at the early rap of the 90s and
compare it with brain dead solja boy.

Great thread. It's all funny because we sound like a bunch of old men. Our parents look at at all that good 90s music the the way we look at the crap teens are listening to now. But you know what, there's good music out there too. There always is.

I'll always see the 90s as the decade I most identify with as my formative years. From junior high into my mid 20s. These were MY years.

But you know what, it all comes in cycles. Back in the 80s I remember a president called Bush, having a war with Iraq and a bunch of crappy pop music. Its 2008 and what do we have again?

80's were better. Was just a teen then so couldn't drink but didn't have to worry about studying all the time.

I was in a band and played guitar in a time when people actually could play solos and rock out, Unlike that stupid crap Kurt Cobain brought in. Any guy that picked up a guitar for only 2 weeks could play anything on a Nirvana or Green Day album.

The solo never came back.

The 90's were a bit tough for me, I was an AFC in engineering school I found out about Ross Jeffries in 96 in my last year of undergrad, but never bought his stuff.

I was such an AFC that I banged a secretary at my first job out of college. She was separated not divorced yet and I was a virgin. She was almost twice my age. It was good, but it was too easy and she did it because she knew I was awkward with women. It ended ugly with the guy coming after me. 3 years passed before I got laid again.

I found some for download in 99 off of Napster and slowly started to apply it to my game. I found this site in 2001 and my success with women skyrocketed.

I got out of one career into a new one that doubled my salary. That helped a great deal but now I am learning to deal with another type of job stress.

Have a great gf now, which I'm convinced took multiple wrong choices to finally get me on the right path.

We are all a product of our experiences so rather than look to the past, let's make the present and future the best ever!

Good luck to you all!

Ha, funny stuff. :)

I might agree that the 80s were better. I was only 9 when 1990 rolled around, but I think I got a feel for what the 80s were like. But I think, easily, the 80s/90s were better than the 00s. Both decades had better music and better movies, and I think internet culture has kinda sucked the fun out of life. Back in the day you were FORCED to go out to pretty much do ANYTHING, and the internet has turned people into antisocial hermits. To have any kind of contact with people who weren't in your phonebook, you had to go out. Now, you have the internet. To get information on anything that wasn't on tv, you needed to go to the bookstore or library. Now, you have the internet. If you wanted to browse, buy or discover new music, you needed to go to the music store or a friend's house or where ever. Now, you have the internet. If there was nothing on tv and you wanted entertainment, you had to go out, to the movies, arcade, where ever. Now, you have the internet, youtube, myspace, and a million other sites to waste your time. It may be incredibly convenient and enriching and today's internet generation would feel naked without it, but the internet has simply made life less interesting. And that didn't really kick in until the really late 90s or 00s.

Sh1t, I was downloading SNES and Genesis games for FREE years ago.
Yes, Bates is right. There is no need to be overly nostalgic or sad over any old game console games(Atari, sega, nintendo, playstation 1, you name it). Just get your a** to google and look up your favourite console's emulators and roms and you can begin rejoicing with Final Fantasy 2, Super Mario Bros, Contra and all the other classic games that have gameplay that is unparalleled to this day. Dont even have to get up from the chair and it only takes five minutes to get the game ready to play.
But, I guess that goes to show how easy we have it nowadays again, doesnt it :p

As for music, i dont miss any of the old decades, because music has evolved. Popular music has far more different forms today than any other decade and there is far more good music available thanks to all the data sharing capabilities, you just have to look further than the screen of MTV or the local radio stations. There are INCREDIBLE bands out there right now, making great music. Amon Amarth, Immortal, Wintersun, Opeth to name a few. Those are all metal bands, but Im sure there are lots of geniuses in other genres too.

Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.
