Do a search on this forum. There is an epidemic. It seems that everyone just loves to use the term "gleam" incorrectly.

gleam: (n.) a glimmer of light, a reflection

Everyone uses it as a verb. Sometimes, people even misspell the word.

gleem: (n.) a common misspelling of gleam.

It's a case of monkey see, monkey hear, monkey do. Do yourselves a favor, before adding words to your vocabularies, do a little research. Just because you hear it in a conversation, or read it somewhere, doesn't mean you have it right. You are going to believe with all your might that it is correct and proper, you'll even argue with somebody about it. Then, when you find out you were wrong, you will be proven an idiot and look like a jackazz. To spare you all from further humilliation, let me offer this:

glean: (v.)
1. To gather grain that was left behind after harvest
2. To collect information by small amounts at a time; implies vagueness or difficulty in collecting the information; also implies wordiness

Proper usage:

There is much information to be gleaned from this site.
The squirrel spent the day gleaning corn from the field.

Enjoy.

Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.

lol, I havn't even notice people using the word glean.

I notice a lot of red herrings though. More problems by focusing on the wrong aspect, and asking for advice about something knowingly useless.

Fridays at 8 pixie, you get extra invites for that.

First party is on the house, after that you have to bring something. If you don't bring a shirt, then it's still on the house.

Edit: Loved the "there" usage, classic
