"The Coffee Shop Girl You Never Spoke To"

You've replayed it a hundred times. She stood three feet away, scrolling her phone. You had an opening. You composed the perfect line — after she was gone.

For all you know, she's married now. To some guy who said something. Anything.

Openers are cheap. Almost any sentence works when it's delivered within three seconds. The expensive part is the standing there, drafting and deleting, while the window quietly closes.

The "22 Rules" stripped out my hesitation. What to open with, how to keep it alive, and the one habit that costs guys more women than anything else: waiting for perfect.

Now this isn't a typical work thing, I matched this girl on tinder a while a go, talked a bit , snap chatted, but we never met. I basically stopped talking to her then. I randomly got offered an interview at a place (applied to a tonne), and remembered she worked there, so I asked her about it and started talking to her abit,. I got the job.

Since I started working there she's been incredibly strange around me, she originally talked a lot to me online after I started (FB, snapchat, etc).. she smiles in person, acts shy, I think she's attracted to me, but she avoids me a lot. doesn't like to linger in my presence and doesn't talk to me like other colleagues. It's messing me up as I feel weird now even trying to approach her/ converse with her like with other work mates. Since she started acting this way, I basically shut down social media contact with her as if she won't talk to me in person, why bother online, ? So I just kinda gave one word answers, didn't allow convo to progress. She's kind of been putting feelers out there recently though, sending me snapchat and liking FB pics, and her friend keeps bringing her up when I'm in his presence.

Sorry for this childish ****, sounds like high school nonsense, but I'm perplexed. She's attractive, but I've been spinning a tonne of plates lately and can easily let this be, or let it play out. What you think?

"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.

Maybe she dosent want to date coworkers. Just continue to be friendly. I wouldn't try to date her since you work with her

She feels awkward as hell because a dude she is attracted to who she never really knew in person before now works with her. So yeah, she is shy about it. I would say she still wants it though.
