Master Don Juan
Too many of us are trapped by our successes. We work so hard to get somewhere, to be someone, to rise all the way to the top. Some are trapped by money. Some by fame and glory. And some by their own intangible wisdom and knowlege. This is about levels, and why the top is not the last level.
Many people start off insecure, and lacking confidence in themselves. They have a low sense of self worth. They think that nobody cares about them really.
If they are lucky they begin the process of introspection. They essentially discover themselves. Their worth, their confidence, and then they become secure with themselves and their abilities. I believe in the hierarchy of needs that this is called self actualization, and it is at the top of the paramid. As if that is the ultimate goal, the last level.
For some that is indeed the last level. They are selfish, and once they have satisfied the self, they are content to be where they are at. They have no need to discover nature, or to revel in its beauty. They do not desire to solve any of life's great mysteries, or unearth any of life's great secrets. They know themselves, and their power, and that is all.
But for some, the journey is not complete. Once they are secure with themselves, they may be able to begin identifying the true nature of others. And the fundamental truths of the world itself. They begin to truly understand things. They gain wisdom.
For some this is the last level. These are the great philosophers, the great intellectuals. They sit high on top of a perch and observe the world below and learn about the nature of all mankind. We have those here at sosuave. They are wise, and intelligent, and they are safe. But they are safe.
They bestow the levels below them with their great realizations at times. They invoke admiration, adoration, idolization, and sometimes desolation. And loathing. And they rise back up to sit atop their clouds in their heavenly skies of knowledge and discovery.
Well I am here to inform you that you all sitting atop your perch, your pedestal with the light shining on you (only when you are good and ready to be awed that is), that you are lazy and scared to take the next step.
The next step, the next level, which is to fall from your skies back down to the earth. To step off of your pedestal and step into the congregation. To lose yourself in the crowd that you have risen above, and to bury yourself in the soil of the earth that you truly belong to. To take pleasure in the little things, the unimportant things that will not result in glorification.
Because you are not free. You are locked in the gilded cage you sing from. Get free from the idolization and the reality of martyrdom. Free from the confines of your self and your own mind. You will be lost in the crowd, but forever changed by the journey.
Do not study nature forever! Become one with nature once again!
You will not lose what you have gained! It will always be there. And as long as you keep it on display, above everyones heads where they cannot interact with it, then what is it really? Nothing but a museum artifact. But you are alive! And so is all of your wisdom. Do not fossilize it! Do not lecture it! Merge it into the world that you owe. Give it back. Give is not even the right word. A martyr would hold on to that word, and their martyrdom as well. Let it go! Let yourself go. Free your soul from its vessel. Do not try to hold on to or keep what is not rightfully yours alone. Because then you never really have it.
Kind of like love. But is it not the same thing? Do not strive to remain untouchable. Because then what is the point? This is something I was driving at in the beauty thread.
You will now be able to appreciate things you never could have before. You will be lost in the crowd, but not controlled by the crowd. You belong on earth.
"It's lonely where you are, so come back down..."
