OldSpice has been running some "viral" ads in the last few days.
I have to say, I am highly entertained. Not only does it blatantly get the product across, but it gets it across in a VERY interactive way. These adverts are pretty much the reason why YouTube crashed a few times yesterday.
The basics are this.
The advertising agency took the latest "star" of their newest commercials and placed him in a bathroom wearing only a towel, making about 30 second spots RESPONDING to various YouTube comments, Twitter comments, and Facebook comments from all over the U.S.
Here's an example:

This was done non-stop pretty much for about 3 days. It's officially ended, but I think the way of marketing is genius. They had ONE actor, probably one writer, and the guy recording and uploaded. Minimum cost of producing, maximum exposure. It became so widespread that people like Alyssa Milano, Demi Moore, and Christina Applegate were involved as well.
I think the spots were VERY well written given the short amount of time. Not only that, but there is a hint of manliness in all of these commercials.
Here is their original channel:

Do you guys think this might be the new wave of advertising? Interactive commercials? Or will other companies fail to replicate this lightning in a bottle? I have to say, everyone I know has been buzzing about this channel and the adverts in the last few days and was wondering what some of you thought of NOT only the concept but about the "manliness" implied behind the ads.
