So im out alone after my friends left the club to go home. I head to the dance floor to find a girl to dance. Find one, ask her name and stick my hand out to lead her to a different spot on the dance floor but still near her friends. She dances with me for about 15 seconds then moves over to one of her girlfriends and leaves me. This isn't the first time this has happened to me so I finally get to the point where I get tired of it happening.
I go up to one of this girls friends on the dance floor and basically engage in a conversation about what a guy had to do to just meet a girl on the dance floor and just have a dance or two and enjoy himself. Well without asking this girl instantly just starts dancing on me and my head just explodes with enlightenment. I dance with her for a couple of songs then twirl her at the end of a song and head off to try my new found tactic.
While Im looking for a new girl to try this technique on, I chat up this guy thats sitting on the side of the dancefloor that looks like he would be at least ok with women. We talk for a minute and I ask the guy what the hell it takes to be able to get girls to dance with you. His answer,"confidence". Well no ****. So I ask him what he would do if he wanted to project confidence to a girl and pointed at one. He just said he would walk right up and be a man about it. So I did. I walked right up to her and did the same maneuver again. I asked her if I could get her to answer a quick question for me, she agreed then I got her name. Told her that I tried to get a girl to dance with me by asking her name then sticking my hand out to pull her to the dance floor but she just strolled off to her friends. Once again she just started dancing with me!
We danced for a song or two then I ask who she's here with and find out its her friends birthday and she pulls the birthday girl over to dance with me as well. Im thinking to myself,"holy ****!!" I dance with them for a song and then make my exit a few feet over to relax at the bar. Some AFC gets the first girl to dance with him for about 30 seconds then she gets away to come stand next to me. Talking to her about why she just walked away from him, the guy is trying to use her to make the birthday girl jealous and she had to get away. He comes over to try to drag her back out on the dance floor but I rescue her from him and she mine for the rest of the night.
I ask whats wrong with him and she says he's too short (he's the same height as me). Then I tell her that I'll help find a guy for her thats her type. I start pointing out guys that I think is her type and she spits out why they aren't her type, all the while dancing with me.
Lights come on and I tell her to give me her phone and dial my number. She grabs the phone and saves my number to my name and we head downstairs to leave. I ended up running into some old friends that I havent seen in about 4 years and we talk for half an hour or so and I completely ignored her after we got downstairs and she left with her friend. No big loss to me because I got her number, but I had a great time and realized that sometimes you just need to forget trying to use the pickup lines and just trust in your instincts and say whats on your mind. The words that were coming from my mouth with this girl were my own and because of that I wasn't stumbling through my memory trying to remember a line that I can use next. I wasn't worried about picking up the girl, I was more preoccupied with just being able to interact with a girl on the dancefloor and find someone that I can have some fun with for a few songs with no expectations of anything further.
What a great learning experience. I think spring break will be a fun week for me!
