"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.

FR: GYM Approaching Day 2 Leads to Confrontation!!!

"The Coffee Shop Girl You Never Spoke To"

You've replayed it a hundred times. She stood three feet away, scrolling her phone. You had an opening. You composed the perfect line — after she was gone.

For all you know, she's married now. To some guy who said something. Anything.

Openers are cheap. Almost any sentence works when it's delivered within three seconds. The expensive part is the standing there, drafting and deleting, while the window quietly closes.

The "22 Rules" stripped out my hesitation. What to open with, how to keep it alive, and the one habit that costs guys more women than anything else: waiting for perfect.

@gspshields2 : you didnt do what I said exactly you just used the opener and continued the rest on your way :

I told you after you ask her , watch her response if she was friendly or not , if yes move on the next conversation ,
the wrong thing in this approach you was too eager to take her number , all what you tried to do is pickup , you also added "hey" , that lower your status , a real man just ask his question .
did she just answered the question politely or she was friendly because you looked like moved to next step ?
I said to her with a smile "Hey your hogging up the machine, I don't have all day" in a joking way.
here you are threatening her , she will feel pressure on herself even if you are smiling , women threat with smile a lot of time when they try to keep their image nice , so being smiling does not mean you wasn't serious for her

also it is very clear you are trying to pickup her in this line , that is wrong , you should have just have conversation , like "your weights are so light , are you sure that works for you"

also you asked her for her number very very quickly , you have to build comfort and if possible attraction before that .

it seem your words scared her BF , I bet you reduced her interest rate in her boyfriend because he didnt dare to do what he told you he is going to do "kick your ass" .
but dont try it again , because was you did was socially unacceptable , you have to not talk about pickup and taking phone number openly to poeple , that will reduce your value.
only ask for phone after you have a nice conversation that both of you find it interesting
