It has been expressed many times before on this forum, but there are profound benefits to SLOWING DOWN!
Not only does is it appear more elegant, but as you slow down your actions, you will learn to focus more intently on things and conduct yourself more precisely. You will have more control over everything you do!
Try reading a piece of text aloud. Notice how the faster you read the more you stutter, make mistakes and miss the point. Notice that by slowing down you can pronounce each word correctly, more elegantly, add expression and tone, and absorb everything the text has to offer. It's the same with everything you do in life!
For practice, try slowing down everything you do during the next ten minutes or so and notice the benefits of doing so. Notice how easier it is to focus on what you are doing and how much richer the experiences are.
It's a fairly obvious fact, but so few people actually apply it. Most of us live in a society where time dictates our lives - we must meet deadlines, must reach work by a certain time, rush to catch a train/bus, reach the bank before the queues etc and in doing so, we fail to experience life, make mistakes, create unecessary stress and let life pass us by.
By slowing down, we can improve our composure and focus, rid ourselves of the pressures and mistakes that impair confidence, gain control of our actions and our lives, appear more elegant and attractive, be happier and more enjoyable company and so on.
As a further example, I'd recommend watching a David Lynch movie (Lost Highway is the best example) and see how everything transpires at a very slow tempo, and how rich and deeply absorbing his movies are as a result.
