For most of the guys here, a number close is no big deal. It never used to be for me either. However, this is my first number close in the last 7 years, so it's more of a milestone.

Ever since I terminated my marriage, I've been working on picking up the pieces of that mess which is going quite well. I've been trying to figure out how to get the ball rolling on being single again, and there's a couple women interested in me. I now realize that gathering plates to spin takes a bit of time.

A female friend of mine has been trying to hook me up with her friend. She's good looking and all, but I keep on hitting dead ends. It seems that I need to meet her on her terms rather than meeting me on mine, and It's just not working.

Today I was browsing a junk shoppe with a couple of relatives of mine. They went off to look at whatever, and I went off in my own direction. Out of the blue, I suddenly found myself in a conversation with a blonde HB8. I wasn't even looking for women, and blam, this one just falls right in my lap!

We talked about how much we both loved browsing the junk shops and also found common ground with our jobs, and most likely have crossed paths as some point in the past. I faked taking an interest in the books she was looking at. Quite the feminine woman (likes flowers and pretty things) and that's just right up my alley. Better than some biker bytch covered in tattoos who attends arm-wrestling matches.

While this conversation is going on, I'm thinking "Holy fvck, this is going way too good, I've gotta get the digits!" After a few minutes of great conversation, I introduced myself. She gave me her name, and then I went for it...

"Well, I should get back to my shopping but I'd like to continue this conversation. Why don't you give me your number, and we'll arrange something?" She happily gave me the digits. I was both excited and nervous, and I nearly forgot what her name was as I was punching it into my phone.

I'd forgotten how great it feels to do a successful number close. I walked off, forcefully restraining myself from shouting aloud "FVCK YEEEAAAHHH!"

I met up with the dead end chick last night. Easily a HB9, but those fantastic looks aren't enough to keep her around. This chick is the most paranoid person I've ever met. She was terrified of what I was thinking while I was looking at her. She alienates everyone in her personal life, and is extremely judgemental. Kissing her was like kissing a rock - hard and cold. She turned her affection on and off like a goddam light switch - she would start enjoying it and then suddenly back right off into the corner of my passenger seat. The whole experience was extremely bizarre.

That little voice inside of me is screaming "ditch her and RUN LIKE A MOTHERFVCKER!"

On to better prospects...

I must confess, Crazy Flakes like this are my Achilles heel. The only way I can possibly deal with them is to have lots and lots of other prospects to turn to. But damn, they are fun to play with as long as they don't get a hook in you.

At this stage of the game: Quantity is job one :)

congrats man! i number closed today as well.....a chick with a boyfriend:mad: had a great conversation with her, saw my opportunity and went for it. after i got the number THEN she says "yeah, me and my boyfriend......" i ended up throing the number away as i left. i mean what's the point?

It was a sh!t test and you FAILED. If she tells me she has a boyrfriend, I get more motivated to talk to her.

Why did you fail such an easy test? They all have boyfriends.

it was at the end of our conversation. here's basically how it went after we had talked for about 5 min.

me- well, i need to get going. what's your number? i'll give you a call sometime when i'm in town again and you can show me around

her- ok, sounds good(and gives me her number)

me- by the way, where's Carter's located? is it any good?(restaraunt i was supposed to meet my family at).

her- it's about 3 blocks away. it's pretty good, me and my boyfriend go there sometimes.

me- ok thanks, and toss the number as i'm leaving.lol
