"Stop Asking Your Friends What to Text Her"

Your buddy Dave has been single for three years and thinks "hey u up" is a valid strategy. Your other buddy Mike just got dumped and told you to "just be yourself."

You showed them her text. You asked them to decode the emoji. You drafted four responses and sent the screenshot to the group chat for a vote.

She's been waiting forty minutes.

Put the phone down. Stop crowdsourcing your love life. Type something that sounds like you. Hit send. Then go do literally anything else with your evening.

That tall chick i been talkin bout wants to meet this weekend. She suggested friday so i said sure i think im free. so she then says "my friend will be there is that ok?"

That is ridiculous, this is a girl i never met off of match.com and i gotta meet her with a friend. No way! I promptly replied to her text and said -"why dont we just do it when ur free? no rush"

Did i do good?
I aint doin that with a girl i never even met. For all i know shes 50 lbs heavier than her pictures and insane, i shouldnt have to meet her with a friend alongside us on the first date. That's stupid. If she's not wat i thought id like to escape early and thats hard to do if im out with her and her friends. This should be a drink or coffee or somethin, not a hangout with her firends. I suggested a weekday to her twice, but she's hellbent on the weekend. Even if she's not 500 lbs or insane, and shes great, i still wanna meet her alone. It is hard enuff to game a girl alone, let alone with her friend i never met standing right there. Did i handle it right?

"So, What Do You Do for Fun?"

She asks it casually, mid-sip. And you feel the floor open up, because the honest answer is work, gym, and a couple shows you're half-watching.

Women rarely say this out loud, but a man with a life is attractive before he says a word. The guy who spent Saturday deep-sea fishing and came back with photos and a story — he walks in already interesting.

The "22 Rules" pushed me to build a life worth talking about. Turns out the fastest way to be interesting to women is to be interested in your own life first.

Given that you met her online, go a little easy on her with the friend thing.. There really are a lot of freaks online and the woman just needs to make sure you aren't a psycho threat, and having a friend with her is protection in her mind.. Don't let her pull it on you for the second date but for the first I'd let it slide.. Who knows, you may like the friend better :-D

Why are you afraid the she might be 500 lbs, treat all the women the same on first dates. And if you want to know how she looks ask for a picture, or just ask how she would describe herself. But don't change the way how you interact with them, because of their apperance!

When she says that she wants to bring a friend with her, how i see it.. you have 2 choices:
1- Say that you will bring a friend too (double-date)
2- Just be honest and say that you only want to meet her

It's your choice, you're after all the Man  ...

And one thing, you shouldn't be too concerned how you did it.. just know what you want.. and act that way!

Eh it doesnt really have anythign to do with being afraid shes ugly or fat, its more cuz i just dont want to meet her friend too. thats annoying. Isnt this a date? She has like 14 mypsace pics and 4 match.com pics. From what i can tell she's very very cute, huge rack too. The only thing is all the pics r at these weird angles, u cant tell how big her a$$ and stomache are. Shes def not a tothpick, but im not sure about the extent of her blubber. Hopefully theres very little of it :p

In her mind, no.

You were right to turn down a "get-together" with her and her friend. The friend is a potential c0ck-block, and will distract your target from focussing all her attention on you.

If you want to score dates instead of social gatherings, you need to raise her IL higher in order for her to WANT a one-on-one date with you.

Well the meet-up was all her idea. So its not like i asked and shes doin me some favor. But yea exactly. Shes a potential **** block, and it will just ruin my game. Its also annoying i dont wanna meet her friend. But regardless of it being a date or not, it is a match.com meetup, so i should not have to meet her friend and i wont.

Attaboy, good catch! I may have agreed to a Saturday meeting if it were early in the day but definitely not with her Minnie-Me.

You did well by not being fooled and being steadfast. I would have called her and told her that I would think it would be best if our first meeting was one on one to best get to know one another. By suggesting to "do it when she's free" and "no rush" you have given her control of the situation; you'll be waiting on her to contact you.

This girl's interest level was questionable and she was showing signs of a high maintenance girl. Why would she bring her girlfriend along? To get her opinion of you since she may not be able to decide herself. Who are you sarging anyway, her or her friend?

"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.

Or is she really into the attention? You won't know for sure until you get together with her, alone.

Try re-scheduling with her - without the friend. If she still insists on bringing someone, NEXT her.

I think her interest is thru the roof. She only joined match sunday night, she says im the only one shes talked to so far, and she texts me all day, and calls me every night. She wants me to see the movie happy feet with her sunday. I am literally not doin anything here, she is doing all the contacting and stuff. Is she crazy? She's 26 and she said she dated 1 guy in her life, for 6 yrs. Is she just really lonely and desperate maybe? This seems obsessive. But when we talk she sounds really smart and together. We hit it off, she seems totally normal. This is weird i wish i could show pics of her, its odd for someone that looks like that to act like this. Hmmmm

Hmmmm... Feels a bit different when you're on the other end, doesn't it? Keep this in mind when you're on the hunt.

But hey, this one definitely sounds interested. It's good that you've gained her interest before she had gotten tainted by all the AFC noobs online, I believe that's one of the major reasons why many women are apprehensive online.

I still say you should meet her face to face alone first. One option is the two of you get together for something light first and if you hit it off, go and see Happy Feet with her and her friend. Going to see Happy Feet is bad enough in itself, it would be a shame going with someone you don't really know along with her friend. If the two of you don't hit it off, she has someone else to talk to; think about it...

"You Can't Argue a Woman Into Liking You"

You made your case like a lawyer. Stable job. Good guy. Ready for something real. All true. All irrelevant.

She weighed your points, nodded along, felt nothing — then fell hard for some tattooed bartender with a motorcycle and a gambling problem.

Logic is where attraction goes to die. The "22 Rules" work a level deeper, on the subconscious switches that decide within minutes whether you register as a MAN or as part of the furniture.

Stop presenting evidence. Start flipping switches.

No she said shes dropping off her friend at the train in manhattan, and we're gonna see it alone. Looks like she got my drift quick. Feels good when u lay down the law lol. Happy Feet is rough, but ill suggest drinks after. Unfortunately we live at home both of us, so no chance of that for a while. But she seems cool, we hit it off talkin on the phone.

Well not sure what u mean by feels diff on the other end, i never text or call like that. I do one or 2 calls or texts, not 20 in 4 days lol. I think its diff in that i actually like that. I asked if its obsessive, but its def not a turnoff, i like gettin texts. Maybe im just bored at work, or i like the re-assurance of knowing shes interested but they dont bother me. Im just curious if she may me be a screwball. lol

Cool! Take her somewhere fun after the movie. IMO, movies are lousy first dates because all you do is sit in a movie theatre and distract yourselves from one another. Do something where the two of you can interact afterward.

Yea she picked the whole happy feet idea. I dont like movies as dates, unless its my gf. Im gonna suggest drinks. Altho its gonna be perfect dinner time, so i may not be able to avoid that. Think drinks r good?

"She Made Her Decision Before You Finished Your Sentence"

Three seconds. That's how long it took. Your shoes. Your posture. The way you held your drink. Whether you looked at the floor or looked at her.

She already filed you away. Interesting. Boring. Safe. Bold. Before you even opened your mouth.

Everything you say after that is just her confirming what she already decided.

So stop rehearsing lines. Fix the first three seconds. Stand tall. Look up. Smile like you mean it. Walk like you belong wherever you're standing.

The words come later. The impression comes first.
