Hey I'm 16 and I'll be flying to Seattle, Washington from Manila, Philippines... While I'm there I'm thinking about finding a job to make use of my time. I'm an american citizen so legally working is no problem... Anyone know anything about labour laws for a 16 year old working in Seattle? I looked on google but all I found was age discrimination stuff.. lol

I doubt I could find a job fast (because I'm 16)... Anyone got a job at 16? I'd love to hear what kinda job you found, since I'm eager to find work when I go to Washington State this summer.

Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.

Basically that's all I need.. just minimum wage.. I wouldn't mind working as a janitor for around 3-4 months.. it's not permament.. just so I can be productive while I stay there..

yeah, one of my friends worked for like 8-10 hours a day for like 2 months months, and raked in about 2,400 dollars. Not too shabby.

I really don't wanna sit on my ass a couple of months and not take the chance to make some money..

Can a 16 y/o even do that kind of work legally?

A 16 y/o can't:

- Drive a motor vehicle for a living.
- Operate most types of machinery.

I do wish you the best of luck, though your limited schedule, meaning you can't work long-term (years), will work against you.

How about Starbucks(tm)? It's to coffee that McD's is to hamburgers. Plus they don't even hire real baristas (just clerks who know just enough to do the job) and high schoolers can work there.

And since the only solid food they sell are pastries, there's no greasy meat and flying, scalding oil.

The only downside is that they open at 5:30 (at least around here they do), but then again so does McD's (I think).

Starbucks would be a great place to work... Or a clothing store. But I bet it's hard to land a job at those kinda places. Oh well, I'll see what's available in Washington and go from there...
