"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.

Ok this is from way back friday, but ive had hella s*hit to do....here it goes

i was on the bus on the way home friday, when i saw this HB latina (about a 6)...i tried to make eye contact but she kept staring straight ahead (for those of you who take sf muni, i couldn't sit next to her b/c the seats are single on one side, so the bus was pretty full:eek: anyway im thinking about how bad it is that im still shy, and i say f*uck it the first chance i get to approach a girl im gonna do it..,so we both get off on the next stop and we happen to start walking next to each other  (dam talk about luck)! so i ask how she's doing...

me: hi how are you?
her: huh?
me: how are u?
her: im fine you?
me: im good u just get out of school?
her: yeah i go to (didn't and still don't know what she said)
its a school for learning english oh
me: is that a high school?
her: laughs no
me: what is it?
her:its a school for learning english
me: how old are you? (beginning to wonder if i picked up jailbait)
her: 19, ill be 20 this year
me: when?
her: july
me: oh thats cool..so where are you from?
her: mexico
me: (spanish) oh when did u move here?
her: (spanish..pretty much in spanish the rest of the way) 3 years ago.
me: oh so u were born there? your not married are you? (i asked that b/c usually the mexican sistas that i meet are married
her: no
me: who do u live with?
her: my family, i have two sisters and a bro
me: how old is your sister? (just out of curiosity)
her: 15
me: thats cool

summing up: from here on im laughing at myself b/c my spanish isn't all that good, she is laughing, i tell her that she is talking to fast, grabs my arm and apologizes.....she says that she don't believe i don't speak spanish b/c the people she meets don't like to speak it.

so we get to her house (i was walking to the bank near it)
--still in spanish

well here's my stop
*looks at me, shrugs, has this big smile on face*
asked her name, exchanged name and handshake
and i walk away thinking should i ask for her number even though there is a language barrier, and i though ah hell why not, ill see if i can get over the hurdle

me: let me give you a call sometime...
her: ok gives me her number

and i said well it was nice meeting you, and she still was looking at me with a big smile, i guess i should have walked her all the way, but it was across teh street and down and out of my way..

i stilll haven't called her yet, still not sure about language barrier, but there is a good chance ill call...........................im just happy i did it....

"She Made Her Decision Before You Finished Your Sentence"

Three seconds. That's how long it took. Your shoes. Your posture. The way you held your drink. Whether you looked at the floor or looked at her.

She already filed you away. Interesting. Boring. Safe. Bold. Before you even opened your mouth.

Everything you say after that is just her confirming what she already decided.

So stop rehearsing lines. Fix the first three seconds. Stand tall. Look up. Smile like you mean it. Walk like you belong wherever you're standing.

The words come later. The impression comes first.

Good stuff. You left just at the right time, u shouldnt have walked with her all the way! It is always funny to speak to Latinas in Spanish when your spanish is poor. It is all just a big joke on you really! hahaha, I try do it all the time, and my spanish is VERY poor, but always breaks the ice and makes them laugh!
