Even "low intelligence" people will manipulate the information you are provided in order to extract from you or get you to do something or think something.

Women in the early days of humanity would have been saved when their men were murdered by another tribe. They would then become child bearing asset, essentially, of another tribes men.

If you can not beat them join them. It is basically Stockholm Syndrome though it is quite a reasonable strategy. Happens to men too. If an enemy beat your tribe they become your new king.
