I don't get 'down and out' so much, but when I feel like a drink the low cost stuff will be Corona (hot summer days), Charles Shaw wine in the evening or winter, and a nice shot or two of Basil Haydens when the mood strikes.

All are reasonably priced and also very good in my non-expert opinion.
